Job Description

AECOM are currently seeking an Urban Analyst to join our Urban Analytics Center of Excellence within AECOM’s Buildings and Places business line. The Urban Analyst will work with core team members of the Urban Analytics team as well as leaders and experts across multiple disciplines from around the world to support and deliver quality products and solutions to public and private sector clients, and to support projects and opportunities. This individual will have the opportunities to work on high-profile projects related to the urban built environment, collaborate with professionals at AECOM, and develop their career on data science and tool development.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform data mining, data manipulation, data analysis, and data visualization.
  • Assist in building complex data models with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, including spatial and non-spatial data.
  • Support and create client-facing, user-friendly dashboards, tools, and applications (desktop or web-based).
  • Create reusable scripts to automate procedures.
  • Support in research and development of innovated products, tools, and platforms.
  • Develop graphics, maps, reports, and presentations for internal and external use.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and analysis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, urban planning, urban design, Geography.
  • Strong skills in geospatial analysis with GIS (ESRI ArcPro, ModelBuilder, Q-GIS or similar)
  • Experience with 3D design programs such as Rhino, Sketchup, ESRI CityEngine, ArcUrban.
  • Basic programming and coding skills.  Familiarity in at least one programming language such as python, R, R-Spatial, JavaScript, VBA /Macros. Experience with scripting/customized workflow development with Grasshopper / Dynamo / CGA is a plus.
  • Data visualization Skills. Experience with Data Visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or other programs/libraries.
     

Additional Information

  • 3 years’ relevant work experience in urban planning/urban design projects involving data analysis, data modeling, or data visualization in consulting, research, or academic fields.
  • Working knowledge with ESRI CityEngine with procedural modeling with CGA
  • 2 years’ experience in at least one programming language such as python, R, JavaScript, or VBA/Macros.
  • Experience in creating dashboards and tools. Experience in developing web-based application/software is a plus.  
  • Experience in automating procedures to reduce repeated manual work.
