Population Health VICE PRESIDENT 

Arlington, VA preferred/Remote 

 

The Population Health VP is mission-driven and provides leadership and foresight in continuing to grow, and help evolve Altarum's portfolio of Federal, State and Local clients. Altarum VPs define and craft the next era of vision and develop actionable business strategies to transform the business, moving from solid performance to outsized influence and leadership in the space. Reporting to the Chief Program and Strategy Officer and acting as a member of the Senior Management Group, the Population Health VP position is a highly visible leadership role, managing a business of significant revenue and future potential and social impact.


The Population Health VP brings client service/account management expertise and works to broaden the business unit’s capabilities, offerings, and client base. They have the executive presence and gravitas to offer the most senior-level counsel and team management at scale. The VP thinks rigorously about Altarum’s business needs and new, practical, and enduring solutions. 

 

Having an entrepreneurial spirit and desire to build partnerships both internally and externally will lead to breakthrough results, particularly as the organization embarks on enterprise-wide change initiatives. The VP has a strong sense of team, and the required balance and lack of ‘ego’ to lead and manage in a team-oriented environment. The VP forges strong working relationships with the enterprise’s Senior Management Group, support function leadership and the business unit leadership and team more widely. 

 

The VP has significant exposure to Altarum’s C-suite and board, and must have strong leadership, presentation, and strategic influencing skills. Opportunities abound to work with the wider enterprise to create additional value.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Master’s degree in public health, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years relevant experience serving as a key stakeholder, decision maker and catalyst for federal and state level population health 
  • Experience in government contracting (required) with deep understanding of the federal population health competitive landscape, customer priorities and challenges across various agencies and departments 
  • Must have relevant subject matter expertise in at least one of our populations/domains. 
  • Ability to analyze and understand healthcare policy and contribute as a thought leader through industry workgroups and convenings. 
  • Experience selling or managing sales of complex products and services, such as training and technical assistance, survey science and evaluation, and/or workforce, provider training and practice transformation, including successful implementation of service offerings. 
  • Ability to communicate new concepts succinctly and effectively to senior level executives at the national and state level. 
  • Effectiveness at winning new business and leading the business unit’s largest and most sophisticated proposals and pitches. 
  • Ability to embrace existing positive culture while improving the organization’s appetite for partnerships and cross-organization collaboration. 
  • Skill to seamlessly takeover existing relationships with key customers (existing relationships a plus). 
  • Leadership and management skills, especially in fast-paced, highly matrixed environments. 
  • Ability to manage time across multiple assignments and clients, including new business opportunities. 
  • Expertise at creating comprehensive solutions, services, and products.

Logistical Requirements
  • At this time, we will only accept candidates who are presently eligible to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship.
  • Our organization requires that all work, for the duration of your employment, must be completed in the continental U.S. unless required by contract.
  • If you are local to our offices in Arlington, Silver Spring, Novi, or Portland this role will be hybrid (in office on Wednesdays - collaboration days).
  • Must be able to work during eastern time unless approved by your manager.
  • Employees working remotely must have a dedicated, ergonomically appropriate workspace free from distractions with a mobile device that allows for productive and efficient conduct of business.

Description of Population Health Systems Business Unit: 

This position supports the growth and development of Altarum’s Population Health Division. 

 

Our Focus: Strengthening population health and health equity, while supporting the healthcare workforce. 

 

The Population Health team works across several domains supporting improvements in health, and the healthcare workforce, for Military and Veterans, Maternal and Child, and Long-Term Care populations. Serving our federal, state, and philanthropic clients, our key competencies include federal technical assistance, evaluation, survey science, workforce and provider training, coalition building and stakeholder engagement, cost analysis and analytics and needs assessments.
