American Express is hiring: Creative Director - OnBrand in Atlanta

Creative Director Full-time Hybrid (On-site minimum 3 days a week) UMI (Urban Ministries, Inc.), the largest independent, African American-owned and operated Christian media company, is looking for a Creative Director. UMI publishes Christian education resources, including Bible studies, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School curriculum, books, movies, and websites designed for African American churches and individuals seeking a Christ-centered perspective on faith and life issues.The Creative Director will lead the creative team members to achieve success individually and as a department in order to meet UMI’s growing design needs and serve our customers while honoring the UMI legacy and looking forward to future innovations. A current portfolio to be submitted with your applicationResponsibilities include but are not limited to:• Provide creative direction and help develop products from concept to completion across multiple platforms (digital, web, print)• Oversee and implement product redesigns• Work closely with the editorial/content team to manage and understand the project deliverables, timelines, and workflows, and attend weekly production meeting(s)• Work with printers to maintain best practices for deliverables and implement cost-saving ideas and techniques; prepare final files for the printer(s)• Assist the marketing team with other design tasks including but not limited to website design, print and digital ads, brochures, catalogs, and presentations• Create, maintain, and update design and process documentation as neededQualifications:• Five years plus (5+) experience in digital and print design (special interest in digital and web design, educational publishing and/or magazine design)• Expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)• Experience with Content Management and/or Digital Asset Management Systems• Basic understanding of book and editorial layout and typography principles.• Knowledge of web design and functionality (HTML/CSS a plus)• Knowledge of Illustrator and Premier Pro to the Adobe Creative Cloud line• Proven creative design skills (portfolio or samples required)• Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines, and balancing workloads within the team• Ability to set and communicate a clear vision that aligns with the brand and project goals• Creative Problem-Solving: Bringing fresh ideas and innovative solutions to overcome challenges in design and messaging• AI Literacy: Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of AI. Engaging in ongoing education and AI developments, trends, and creative applications to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving field• Experience working with WordPress specifically since all of our websites are built on the platform• Excellent communication and organizational skills and attention to detailEducation:• A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in relevant subjects is considered desirable.
