Lien Claims Adjuster

Overview

Responsible for the analysis, management, and resolution of lien cases.  Negotiate resolution of provider liens assisting claims for workers’ compensation claims. This position will work closely with the claim and medical bill review teams to ensure the efficient and cost-effective resolution of liens. 

 

Those within a 50-mile radius of an AmTrust office will be expected to abide by a hybrid schedule

 

The salary range for this role is $36.79 an hour to $39.66 an hour. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the completion of lien settlement negotiations, including oversight of demands and offers through email, fax, mail and telephonic communications.
  • Update strategy and reserves as information becomes available.
  • Review and appropriately respond to incoming lien related correspondence, pleadings, records, offers to resolve; ensure all responses, objections and other communications are made timely pursuant to all pertinent Workers’ Compensations laws and regulations.
  • Review claim files and determine AmTrust’s liability/exposure, if any, to outstanding liens.
  • Implement lien strategy/resolution plans for closure of all liens on a claim file, ensuring thoroughly document of resolution plans and activities in the claim file.
  • Ensure the efficient and cost-effective resolution of liens; negotiate liens within financial authority, utilizing resources such as staff counsel, management and outside vendors to ensure results are in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Draft correspondence and documentation to include electronically filed documents with various agencies, while ensuring these records are properly and timely filed.
  • Assist Managing lien litigation calendar to make sure all required appearances before the WCAB are made by Defense Attorneys/Hearing Representatives.   
  • Assist in maintaining a record of metrics that measure efficiency and cost-effectiveness of all lien resolutions.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Time management skills, organizational skills and ability to prioritize issues and tasks.
  • Must have outstanding attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must have ability to comprehend written material.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Customer service skills or prior experience in negotiations.
  • Ability to effectively operate computer equipment and applications.

 

Education/Experience

  • Knowledge of the California Labor Code statutes, Rules and Regulations, case law, and California fee schedules.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of Workers' Compensation indemnity claims adjusting experience.
  • Previous Collections or Workers' Compensation experience preferred.
  • Previous Workers’ Compensation lien negotiations preferred.
