Job Title: Billing ClerkJob DescriptionWith general direction, this role performs a variety of routine and non-routine moderately complex billing functions to ensure the proper preparation of accurate and timely bills to customers based on service contract terms and also is responsible for related activities.Responsibilities• Following standard operating procedures, prepare monthly billing adjustments, obtain required approvals, and enter adjustments into the billing system.• Research and resolve routine and non-routine billing questions and discrepancies. Determine the appropriate adjustment codes to process the transaction.• Review invoices for completeness and accuracy. Follow up with customers or other division staff/management to resolve identified discrepancies.• Calculate and prepare manual billings for non-routine, complex billing arrangements as needed.• Gather and summarize supplemental billing information to accommodate customer billing requirements.• Review various billing system reports to identify billing discrepancies. Make corrections as appropriate to ensure accurate billing.• Post cash receipts to customer accounts based on information from lock box reports and local cash receipt listings. Perform basic and routine research to resolve differences or unidentified/misapplied payments.• Post payments as appropriate into the billing system to clear open obligations or prepare remittance advices to accompany payments sent to the lock box or corporate office.• Accept credit card payments from customers over the phone and process recurring payments as needed.• Complete customer setup in company billing system(s).• Act as a resource for less experienced personnel within the division or other divisions, providing training and support.• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.Essential Skills• 1+ years of experience in a Billing role or similar.• Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office.• Strong accuracy and ability to take direction.• High attention to detail and ability to multitask.Additional Skills & Qualifications• Billing/Finance background.• Direct experience working with customers in a billing function in a service-based industry.• Thorough knowledge and understanding of billing transactions and processes.• High school diploma or G.E.D.• Ability to hit the ground running.Work EnvironmentFully in-office, pit style setup with no cubicles. Comfortable with dealing with distractions such as FedEx deliveries and radio music. Fast-paced environment. Business casual dress code. Working hours are from 8am to 4:30pm with a 30-minute lunch break.
