UI/UX Designer

Auria is seeking a UI/UX Designer/Implementer to support the Enterprise Management & Control (EM&C) system, a mission-critical program supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Enterprise. In this role, you will drive the user-centered design process from concept through implementation, collaborating closely with frontend engineers, system engineers, and end users to ensure intuitive and mission-optimized user experiences.

 

The primary work location is in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Essential Functions:

  • Design elegant, modern, and responsive user interfaces for web-based applications in a secure DoD environment.
  • Conduct user research, stakeholder interviews, and usability testing to gather insights and validate design decisions.
  • Create wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
  • Collaborate with frontend developers to translate designs into implementable components and maintain design consistency across products.
  • Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries aligned with security and accessibility standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Section 508 / WCAG accessibility guidelines and DoD security constraints in design.
  • Present designs to stakeholders and participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and demos.
  • As required, work alongside frontend developer to implement front end designs, components and consistency.

Basic Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
  • 3+ years of experience in UI/UX design for web applications or enterprise software.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end design work, including problem framing, research insights, and final UI deliverables.
  • Proficiency in modern design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, etc.).
  • Understanding of responsive design principles and user-centered design methodologies.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and interpersonal skills. Experience with common UI frameworks (Vue3, Angular, React)
  • Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with design implementation in Angular or other modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue).
  • Experience working on government or defense-related software programs, especially with SATCOM or C2ISR platforms.
  • Knowledge of design systems (e.g., Material Design, Carbon Design System).
  • Experience conducting usability testing and accessibility audits.
  • Understanding of front-end development principles, RESTful API interactions, and constraints of secure web environments.

Pay Range: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level ($94,000 - $150,000).

  • Engineer Level 3: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline and 7+ years of relevant experience, Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Engineer Level 4: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline and 12+ years of relevant experience, Master's with 9+ years of relevant experience
