DescriptionBurns & McDonnell's Environmental Services Global Practice is currently seeking an Assistant Environmental Scientist to support our Environmental Health and Safety Compliance and Inspection team within our Chicago and Midwest operations. Burns & McDonnell is a 100% employee-owned firm ranked numerous times on FORTUNE's List of 100 Best Companies to Work For and voted as a Best Place to Work in cities across the United States.• Strong regulatory and technical understanding of facility and corporate-level environmental permitting/compliance support, including EHS multi-media compliance auditing, environmental site assessments, developing and preparing Spill Prevention, Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, Facility Response Plans (FRPs) and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), hazardous waste management (RCRA), and federal and state EPCRA reporting.• Assistance in conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and preparation of Phase I ESA reports.• Assist in conducting field surveys, assessments and collecting project-related data for analysis in environmental impact projects.• Assist in preparation of technical reports, environmental impact statements and environmental field studies.• Assist with performing environmental site investigations, support erosion control efforts and subsurface soil sampling.• Assist in conducting environmental compliance audits.• Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.• All other duties as assigned.Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related natural science degree from an accredited program required.• 3 years related consulting experience providing professional environmental services highly preferred.• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA.• Familiarity with developing, implementing, and auditing environmental management systems strongly preferred.• Familiarity with 40 CFR 112 and ASTM E1527-21 preferred.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.• Strong technical writing skills.• Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.• Basic knowledge of environmental site assessment methods.• Basic knowledge of environmental compliance and compliance audits.• Basic knowledge of the environmental permitting process.• Basic knowledge of GPS and working in the ArcGIS desktop environment.• Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).• Valid driver's license required.
