RN/LPN - Nurse Liaison - Pediatric Rehab (Full-Time)

Are you a RN/LPN with a particular strength for collaboration, communication and building effective partnerships? We have an opportunity for a 1:1 full-time Nurse Liaison to work in cooperation with ChildServe and the Johnston School District. In this role you would provide professional nursing services and aid in the provision of educational experiences for a high school student with a trach, vent, g tube and personal care needs.

What You'll Do

  • Provide full range of nursing services as defined within nursing scope of practice, physician orders and ChildServe policies.
  • Administer medications, feedings, and treatments within scope of practice. Deliver care to meet each child's daily care needs. Perform ongoing assessments as needed.
  • Implement child's care plan. Monitor child's response to care and coordinate care with interdisciplinary team to ensure health and safety needs are addressed. 
  • Maintain accurate, completed and timely records as defined by standards of practice and ChildServe policies and procedures.
  • Power chair management
  • Effectively navigate the regulatory requirements between ChildServe and Johnston School District. Provide nursing procedures as delegated by school nurse. Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records as defined by nursing standards of practice and Johnston School District.
  • Work with a group of individual students in the daily routine of the classroom under the teacher's direction. 
  • Assist in the supervision of students in the classroom and other areas of the school facility. 
  • Ensure communication between school personnel and ChildServe personnel to coordinate medical needs of the children. Keep teacher and school nurse informed of all relevant student related matters. Oversee care delivery of paraprofessionals as direct by the School Nurse.

What You'll Need

  • Current valid license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in Iowa
  • Documentation of CPR/BLS certification
  • 1 year nursing experience in a clinical setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday school hours
  • Shifts also available during summer/school breaks floating through inpatient services.
