Job Description

Continental is looking for candidates for our Multi-Craft 2yr Apprentice Program to work in our Sumter, SC plant. 

During the Apprenticeship, the Apprentice shall receive applicable training through a regionally accredited Technical College program and additional work experience via daily work activities. Apprentices are mentored through the guidance of our Qualified Maintenance Technicians. Selected Candidates will receive their program college tuition paid in full as reflected under the terms and conditions of our 2yr Apprenticeship agreement and other local requirements.


Core Responsibilities:
•    Troubleshoot and repair control devices and motors in the 110 V AC to 4160 VAC range; maintain power transformers. (4160,460,460/110) and lighting transformers. (4160/277); repair relay/limit switch logic devices and any electronic type control devices that utilize solid state components, transistors, diodes, VDC. This repair includes printed circuit board assemblies.
•    Troubleshoot, program and repair PLC’s on the shop floor and any control devices used in conjunction with Plant service in steam, water, air, etc. These control devices may be electrical or mechanical.
•    Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and make adjustments
•    Effectively communicate with maintenance supervision, other engineering personnel, area department supervision.
•    Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service; follow all plant policies, environmental policies, and plant and departmental safety policies. Must be certified to operate a Fork Lift through internal training providers.
•    Perform machinist work, use common machine tools to cut, shape, form, etc. and other materials into shape.
•    Troubleshoot as a mechanic, use common hand tools to adjust, replace worn and broken parts of a structural, rotating, reciprocating or running nature.
•    Accurately and correctly record job time and accurately record/sign-in service/attendance time.
•    Perform other duties as directed by Engineering and Maintenance management.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
High school diploma/GED 
Currently enrolled in Technical College program - Mechatronics or E&I, current GPA of 2.8 or higher 

Must be in at least the second semester of Mechatronics or E&I program
Willingness to work flexible work schedule

Preferred Qualifications
1 year of manufacturing experience
Current GPA above 3.0

Note to Applicants:

Selected candidates who are currently enrolled in an online based program will be required to work  while completing the online course work. Selected candidates who are currently enrolled in a class room based program will be paid for up to 20 hours classroom and required to work 20 hours in the plant each week for on the job training. Candidates must maintain a 2.8 GPA while in the program.  Once the classroom based school portion of the program is completed, selected candidates will work the standard Multi-Craft shift.
