Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Administrator to join our team within our Professional Employer Organization (PEO). The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and processing payroll related activities for multiple client companies, with specific duties including unemployment claims processing, garnishment set-up and handling, new hire reporting, and assisting with finalizing payroll and payment returns. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and has a solid understanding of payroll compliance and administration.
Key Responsibilities
Unemployment Claims Management: Prepare responses to unemployment claims, including gathering necessary payroll documentation and reviewing work history. Liaise with state agencies and clients to resolve disputes and maintain accurate records of claims status.
Garnishment Setup and Handling: Set up and process employee garnishments (wage garnishments, child support, tax levies, etc.) in compliance with legal requirements in the PEO payroll platform, PrismHR.
State Agency Coordination: Liaise with state agencies and clients to resolve unemployment disputes and maintain accurate records of claims status, as well as coordinate with appropriate agencies to ensure timely reporting of garnishments for active employees or responses for terminated employees.
Assist with Payroll Finalizing: Assist in the preparation and production of client payroll direct deposit processing, ensuring timely and accurate distribution of pay.
Track Returned Payments: Work closely with the Finance team and the Payroll team to track and correct returned payments from the bank.
Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including local, state, and international labor laws, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of claims and resolutions.
Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and provide claims reporting information to the payroll and human resource teams to respond to client inquiries regarding unemployment and garnishment related questions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the payroll, finance, human resources, and tax teams to ensure smooth processing and accurate information sharing across Deel’s PEO platform.
Process Optimization: Continuously assess and improve the unemployment and garnishment administration process, leveraging Deel’s platform capabilities and integrating with external systems where necessary.
Key Qualifications
2+ years of experience in handling garnishments, tax levies, child support orders, and other deductions, preferably in a PEO environment.
1+ years of experience in unemployment claims management, preferably in a PEO environment.
Experience with PrismHR, especially processing garnishments within the system, strongly preferred.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
FPC (Fundamentals of Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) a plus.
