Director of People

Could you be Incommunities new Director of People? We are looking for an experienced leader to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our new 5-year People Strategy.

About us

We are a social housing landlord and one of the largest housing providers in the region with over 22,000 social and affordable homes, mainly in the Bradford district. We employ a talented workforce of nearly 1,000 people.

This year we’ve launched our five-year Corporate Strategy, which runs to 2029. Duties

  • Strategic and Transformational Leadership: Envision the future, develop our EDI plan in-line with our overall strategic aims and objectives.
  • Empathy and Customer Focus: Identify and address employee satisfaction, align employee and customer experiences, and deliver excellent people services.
  • Implement and Drive the 5-Year People Strategy: Turn our people strategy into action, prioritising initiatives that enhance the employee experience. Focus on our core principles to improve engagement, retention, and growth, helping us deliver on our vision for a thriving, people-centered workplace.
  • Drive Culture and Employee Experience: Shape and elevate our workplace culture by collaborating closely with peers across functions. Partner with your peer Director group to influence organisational behaviours and ways of working, ensuring a cohesive approach to a positive employee experience.
  • Lead Key Strategic People Initiatives: Oversee key initiatives such as our pay and reward strategies, support for target operating model, and effective trade union negotiations, and strategic ER support. Drive these critical projects with a focus on fairness and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Enhance Internal Communications in Partnership with Comms and Marketing: You will ensure internal communications align seamlessly with our people agenda, fostering engagement and a shared understanding of our vision, purpose and values.
  • Innovation through Tech and Data Proficiency: Utilise technology to enhance employee experience, use data for decision-making and insights, and maintain an agile mindset for sustained change.
  • Manage a team of brilliant individuals: Oversee the People Experience and People Support teams, fostering cohesion and collaboration to deliver a unified approach to the people agenda
  • Strengthen HR Risk Management and Governance: Lead a robust HR risk framework that empowers managers to proactively identify and address HR risks. Ensure clear accountability and escalation processes, enhancing compliance, resilience, and sustainable growth.
  • Align our people experience to our customer experience, outside in and inside out.
  • Proven experience of delivering both people and EDI strategies in a similar size organisation.
  • A proven track record of leading and implementing organisational change and strong change management expertise
  • Experience overseeing initiatives like pay and reward strategies, ER and trade union negotiations.
  • Demonstratable experience in assessing, mitigating and managing risk and implementing governance frameworks within a people-focused environment.
  • Attendance in the office at least 2 - 3 days per week
  • Salary of £97,000 per year
