Junior Digital Accessibility Consultant

About the role

We’re gearing up for our next phase of growth, and we’re now accepting applications for junior digital accessibility consultants who want to help make the digital world more inclusive.

This is a remote role – anyone with the rights to work in Australia or New Zealand is encouraged to apply. The role is for a 12-month full time contract commencing early in 2025, with potential to extend. What you would be doing in the role will vary but some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct assessments against WCAG 2.1 and WCAG 2.2 and accessibility best practice on multiple digital platforms (web and mobile)
  • Clearly describe issues and provide actionable recommendations on how to fix accessibility issues
  • Work with organisations to help them pragmatically improve their accessibility maturity
  • Work onsite and remotely with multi-disciplinary teams, including designers and developers, to review and provide feedback on accessibility across the software development lifecycle
  • Define project-specific accessibility requirements
  • Champion digital accessibility

We are looking for people with interesting backgrounds who can add to the extensive experience of our team. That said we still need you to have certain key skills such as:

  • Passion for digital accessibility and inclusive design
  • Demonstrating an understand of assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver or TalkBack
  • Understanding of WCAG auditing on web and/or mobile will be an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of WAI-ARIA, HTML, CSS and/or JavaScript is preferred
  • An attention to detail with problem-solving skills that rivals Sherlock Holmes
  • Good time management skills and must be a self-starter
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences
  • 1 year of experience in accessibility, user experience or other related field is preferred, but not required

The salary range for this role is $AUD60,000 to $80,000, dependent on location and experience (subject to negotiation).
