Loopio’s Finance team is growing! We are looking for a Financial Analyst who will take ownership of full cycle accounting processes and be part of a collaborative and high performing team. Reporting into the Assistant Controller, the Financial Analyst will own the preparation of financial reporting and accounting for key business processes. Our team has a strong focus on process improvement and this role will have a significant impact in driving efficiency in financial reporting and internal controls. This role will directly impact business decisions, through preparation of accurate and timely financial information. The Finance team is a key business partner to other departments that service our 1,000+ customers. There will be many opportunities for the duties and role to scale as Loopio continues to grow. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assist in the preparation and documentation of working papers, financial statements, and reports to support accurate financial reporting for a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Actively facilitate the month-end close process and month-end analysis for various accounts.

  • Monitor, review, analyze and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy and proactively identify and report on variances.

  • Coordinate transactional investigation with other business units and implement timely adjustments when needed.

  • Preparation of GST/HST/PST/VAT returns. 

  • Work with other Finance team members to continuously improve and automate team processes, documentation and templates.

  • Act as a liaison for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, facilitating smooth communication and transaction processing.

  • Assist with compliance (sales taxes, reporting, corporate taxes) amongst multiple entities in various jurisdictions (Canada, US, India, and UK). 

  • Continually execute internal controls, identify areas for process improvement and strengthen the control environment.

  • Assist with managing audit / tax requests and submissions to external parties. 

  • Assist with ad-hoc projects across the Finance team.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • 2-3 years experience in public accounting preferred

  • CPA designation (or working towards CPA) is preferred 

  • Advanced Excel proficiency

  • Proven track record of proactive problem-solving, issue identification and resolution 

  • Experience with process creation/improvement 

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are essential to this role 

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, through performing self-reviews

  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities 

Where You’ll Work

  • Loopio is a remote-first workplace because we recognize the advantages of working flexibly. We have Hub Regions spanning across Canada, UK, and India, which means that employees live and work remotely within a 300 KM radius of Toronto (within Ontario),Vancouver (within British Columbia), Ahmedabad (within Gujarat), Pune (within Maharashtra), and London (UK) and work within regular business hours in their timezone. 

  • Loopio has two flexible co-working locations available to Loopers in ON and BC. Those based in ON have the flexibility of working out of our convenient coworking space located in the heart of Downtown Toronto and a 12-minute walk from Union Station. BC Loopers have the option to work from our co-working office in Gastown Vancouver. It is whatever works best for you!

  • You’ll collaborate with your teams virtually (we’re just a Zoom call away!) and have established core sync hours and focus time during the workday to enable us to work smarter together
