Director of Business Management

The Azure Artificial Intelligence (AI) Platform team is looking for a results-driven Director of Business Management who is passionate about organizational effectiveness and operational excellence. Azure AI Platform is responsible for delivering the full Azure AI technology stack to support the creation and deployment of first- and third-party AI applications. Azure AI produces such services as Azure OpenAI, Azure Foundry, Azure Search, AI Services like Speech and Document Intelligence, and much more. The mission of the Business Services Team is to enable the AI Platform team to achieve its goals by delivering best-in-class business services and programs globally.As the Director of Business Management, your objective is to efficiently meet budget, hiring and compliance goals, by partnering closely with key internal partners like Finance, Human Resources and Recruiting. You will be responsible for leading the team accountable for business planning and management, business reporting and operations, and other key projects that support AI Platform’s Chief of Staff in helping run the team effectively. The successful candidate will have the ability to make data driven business decisions, think globally, develop processes that scale decisions efficiently across the team and build successful relationships with the AI Platform leadership team and key internal stakeholders.Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. Includes headcount management, people and non-people financial performance and internal Azure spend. • Recruiting: Support industry and early in career hiring of top talent to meet hiring goals. This includes target setting, managing effective and efficient hiring, quality interviewing, support hiring events and intern program and reporting. Success will be dependent on partnership with various recruiting teams, globally.• Compliance: Ensure business conduct is compliant, including processes, training, purchasing and hiring.• Special Projects: Identify, drive and/or support initiatives to meet organizational business needs. Examples of anticipated and unanticipated projects include investment requests, resource rebalancing, efficiency initiatives and geography strategy.• Productivity: Identify and implement initiatives to constantly learn, address feedback and optimize or automate processes to deliver improvements that are sustainable, more productive and scalable.• Other: Embody our culture and valuesQualifications• Required/Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 8+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles• OR equivalent experience.• Experience with cross-group collaboration • Experience operating in an ambiguous environment with minimal supervision • Experience juggling multiple projects and priorities with the ability to reprioritize as necessary to align with current business objectives  Other RequirementsAbility to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/Additional Qualifications• 10+ years of industry experience in related field• Analytic skills, including forecasting and modeling• Extremely organized with great attention to detail • Experience with Microsoft Office and PowerBI • Demonstrated personal drive and self-motivation  Business Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
