The Lead Lab Optical Technician assists the Lab Manager and General Manager in the operations of the lab ensuring quality and same day service standards are met.

Job Description

What would you do? – The Specifics

  • Leads, mentors and coaches Lab Technicians.
  • Provides world-class service by treating customers with respect, providing prompt and courteous service, and listening and understanding their needs and ensures all associates do the same.
  • Creates an environment of empowerment for associates so they can make the world's happiest customers.
  • Ensures that all lab associates are properly trained on all lab equipment. Identifies additional training needs of lab associates in order to minimize breakage.
  • Support and train staff on safety protocols.
  • Ensures quality standards are met. Makes sure that all completed eyewear conforms to Company standards and tolerance.
  • Takes a proactive approach to problem resolution. Examines the root cause of problems and champions changes to brand rules and practices that negatively affect customer satisfaction.
  • Executes same day service using "Ready When Promised" production board.
  • Builds strong, supportive, and constructive relationships with peers and company leaders.
  • Performs machine maintenance to ensure that all lab equipment is clean and in good working order according to standards.
  • Addresses immediately all equipment malfunctions and informs the Lab Manager, General Manager and retail staff of any production delays.
  • Ensures that all safety rules and standards are followed, including making sure that all Lab Technicians wear protective eyewear in the lab at all times.
  • Makes certain that store cleanliness and waste disposal policies are adhered to at all times.
  • Assists with answering phones efficiently in accordance with National Vision telephone protocol.
  • Assists in controlling inventory shrinkage through the monitoring and recording of breakage and accurate inventories.
  • Makes sure that the store maintains a proper level of lenses and lab supplies to provide prompt customer service.
  • Ensures compliance to all store and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled mandatory communications meetings in order to keep informed of changes in corporate policies and initiatives.
