Privacy Process Manager


Department: Legal Privacy Team


Reports To: Chief Privacy Officer


Nielsen is seeking an experienced privacy process manager to join its Legal Privacy Team on a permanent basis. This position will be based in the US, with flexibility regarding location. The new hire will be expected to start in April.


The Privacy Process Manager will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and optimizing privacy processes and procedures to ensure adherence to global privacy regulations and company policies. This role requires a strong understanding of privacy principles, data protection laws, and industry best practices, as well as demonstrable experience in project management, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a true passion for privacy, and have excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment


Responsibilities Include:
  • Process Development and Management: 

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and execute privacy processes and procedures in line with industry’s best practices and legal requirements (e.g., DSAR, PIA, and incident management).
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of existing policies and processes to ensure ongoing effectiveness and compliance.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and adapt to evolving business needs.
  • Develop and analyze program metrics to track effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

  • Privacy Compliance: 

  • Develop and deliver engaging privacy training and awareness programs to employees and stakeholders.
  • Manage data subject access requests and privacy inquiries in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Stay up-to-date on current and upcoming privacy laws and regulations and advise the organization on compliance requirements.

  • Collaboration and Support: 

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., legal, IT, HR) to ensure cohesive privacy practices.
  • Support the development and implementation of privacy-enhancing technologies and data protection measures.
  • Manage and maintain privacy documentation and records in an organized and accessible manner.
  • Support internal and external responses to compliance requests (e.g., audits).Serve as a primary business client contact for the privacy office.
  • Provide direct support to the Chief Privacy Officer in developing and implementing the overall privacy program.
  • Perform other program tasks as required.


Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., law, information technology, business administration).
  • 3+ years of experience in privacy or data protection, preferably in a similar role.
  • Relevant privacy certification (e.g., CIPM, CIPP/US, CIPP/E, and/or CDPSE etc.) strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep understanding of privacy principles and data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and experience with applying/teaching privacy principles in practice.
  • Proven experience in project and change management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to  adapt quickly to regulatory changes and ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Practical, hands-on approach to working with diverse teams.
  • Effective knowledge-sharing skills.
  • Experience with data mapping and GRC platforms (OneTrust preferred).

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $51,000-$192,000 which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location.  The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications and other business requirements/needs
