Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.


 Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seeks a National Volunteer Program Organizing Manager who will grow Planned Parenthood’s base of volunteers and manage volunteers as part of volunteer programming at PPFA’s national office. This manager  will work in close coordination with the PPFA/PPAF and Planned Parenthood Votes team to develop content and programming to engage new supporters, and mobilize and train volunteers to take action with volunteer teams. Priorities will include developing and facilitating volunteer training, building an online community for volunteers nationally, and communicating with new volunteer prospects and leads for sexual and reproductive health care campaigns and elections.  

Purpose: 

National Volunteer Program Organizing Managers are responsible for growing, maintaining and mobilizing PPFA and PPAF’s organized power through volunteers. Organizing Managers manage the daily volunteer-facing operations of PPFA, PPAF, and PPVotes’ National Volunteer Programs (NVP) or other organizing programs as needs arise. The Associate Director of the National Volunteer Program, who manages each NVP organizing manager, sets the call cadence, calls-to-action, policy priorities and overall strategy for the NVP. National Volunteer Program Organizing Managers run the program and engage volunteers to meet national and local campaign goals related to policy priorities and calls-to-action. Managers also coordinate and work with affiliate staff to implement programming for support-a-state programs to advance campaign goals for state fights. 


Delivery:

In consultation with the Associate Director of NVP, National Volunteer Program Organizing Managers: 

• Lead the process of recruiting, training, and mobilizing online volunteer teams. 

• Recruit volunteers, absorb volunteer interest, and mobilize volunteers via multiple online platforms. 

• Mobilize supporters to contribute both to long term efforts and rapid response campaigns on birth control, abortion access, sex ed, healthcare, and reproductive health and cross-movement issues like gender justice, voting rights, gender affirming care, racial justice, immigration, gun violence prevention and more.

• Absorb newly activated supporters into PPFA/PPAF/PPVotes’ National Volunteer Programs and generate new leads for local Planned Parenthood organizations to recruit and train to build their supporter base. 

• Work alongside local Planned Parenthood advocacy and political organizations to mobilize supporters nationally and locally to take action for national and state fights regarding protecting and expanding reproductive health and rights. 

• Train and coach supporters on how to organize, mobilize and build long term power.

• Support volunteers to complete weekly volunteer activities and tasks. 

• Work with PPFA/PPAF/ PP Votes digital organizing leadership to break down overall goals into smaller goals, develop timelines and work plans, and produce reports to tell the story of the program’s progress. 

• Supports engagement of virtual volunteers in in-person activations in states or in DC as needed at direction of the Organizing, Partnerships and Constituencies team leadership.

• Utilize digital tools such as Hustle and Signal to recruit, organize, and continuously engage a distributed volunteer network. 

• Create innovative engagement strategies to motivate volunteers in an online organizing environment. 

• Create a welcoming and affirming culture that supports the growth and success and volunteer teams, volunteer leaders, and volunteer prospects in alignment with PPFA/PPAF/PPVotes values and strategic goals. 

• Create reports to track progress to goals and work with the Associate Director of NVP and Senior Director of Digital Organizing to implement adjustments as needed. 

• Reserve 30% of managers’ capacity to accommodate unanticipated shifts and rapid response needs in national and state campaign priorities.

• Other duties as assigned by Organizing, Partnerships and Constituencies team leadership.


Engagement: 

•National Volunteer Program Organizing Managers work directly with PPFA, PPAF, and PP Votes volunteers on a daily basis. 

• They also collaborate with team members in the Organizing, Partnerships and Constituencies teams to bring content expertise to volunteer trainings and calls.

• National Volunteer Program Organizing Managers engage with PPFA’s Digital Fundraising and Supporter

• Engagement Teams around the volunteer experience and pipeline, as well as PPFA’s Communications team to ensure strong messaging alignment when working with volunteers. 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): 

• 4 years minimum of relevant working experience

• Undergraduate degree required

• Experience running field or virtual organizing programs, volunteer training or volunteer management. 

• Experience working in advocacy, social justice, and/or electoral campaigns with volunteers.

• Expertise setting goals and deadlines and coaching staff to meet goals or deadlines.

• Strong data analysis skills, and the ability to read a report and incorporate learnings and findings. 

• Understand and/or ability to develop skills in the following platforms: VAN voter database software, Signal, Hustle, Slack, social media platforms (Instagram,TikTok) and Google Suite. 

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including semi-regular evenings and occasional weekends required. 

• Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders, communicate clearly and often.

• Strong interpersonal skills, including building relationships and engaging with new people. 

• Maintain a positive, can do, and solutions-oriented attitude in tough situations. 

• Flexible and self-motivated to identify priorities and complete work. 

• Knowledge of and commitment to progressive causes and progressive management practices.


Travel: 25-50% domestic 




$83,000 - $88,000 a year

Total offer package to include generous vacation + sick leave + paid holidays, individual/family provided medical, dental and vision benefits effective day 1, life insurance, short/long term disability, paid family leave and 401k. We also offer voluntary opt-in for Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Transportation/Commuter accounts.
