Position Snapshot

Range Energy is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Sales Manager to drive revenue for the company and lay the foundation for rapid sales growth. The Senior Sales Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the sales process, including identifying new customer leads, communicating the value Range can bring to their operations through various presentations and analyses, and ultimately delivering closed deals for the business. This role requires a high proportion of outside sales, including tradeshows, in-person demos and pilots, and a strong focus on literally and figuratively meeting the customer where they are. Range Energy is in the early stages of its go-to-market journey, and this role is positioned to have an outsized impact on the company’s sales strategy, and ultimately its success in the marketplace.


Ideally, the Senior Sales Manager is someone with experience in the freight or heavy-duty transportation equipment or with commercial EVs industry who can communicate the value of Range Energy products and develop customized sales presentations. The successful candidate will manage a sales pipeline, negotiate deals, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements.

Inside the Role
  • Work independently, and with business development leaders to identify potential customers and prospects in target markets. Conduct in-depth background research to establish initial contact and engage with leads to generate new business.
  • Represent Range at industry tradeshows, and other in-person mass lead generation events to establish or deepen customer relationships.
  • Travel to customer locations as needed (30-50% of the time) to foster relationships, conduct product demonstrations and pilots, and provide on-site support throughout the customer journey.
  • Own end-to-end customer relationships, from lead identification through closure of the sales process
  • Prepare and deliver tailored audiovisual presentations and or quantitative analysis to potential clients, showcasing the value proposition of Range Energy products in alignment with customer needs and market trends.
  • Work with customers and internal stakeholders to secure incentive and grant funding opportunities for key accounts
  • Negotiate terms, pricing, and structure of sales agreements, ensuring mutual benefit for the company and the customer while closing deals.
  • Deliver on aggressive sales and revenue targets, as developed with company leadership
  • Develop and maintain an accurate, forward-looking sales pipeline and customer database in a CRM tool (such as Pipedrive), forecasting revenue and tracking progress toward sales targets.


The Must Haves
  • 5-10 years of experience in a direct sales role selling a disruptive technology into a mature/conservative market.
  • Extensive relationships with key decision-makers at major trucking fleets and logistics companies, especially refrigerated fleets.
  • Deep familiarity with incentive and grant programs, especially those administered by California agencies like CARB, the South Coast AQMD, CEC, etc.
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations as required, with approximately 30-50% travel and frequent visits to HQ.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex product solutions to various audiences.
  • Track record of forecasting and delivering on aggressive revenue targets
  • Demonstrated comfort with a fast-paced, highly dynamic startup environment
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.


Bonus Points
  • Experience selling commercial EVs, or other products to the heavy-duty trucking market
  • Familiarity with the Range Energy product or similar energy-efficient products for the freight and transportation industry.
  • Strong proficiency with multiple CRM applications to manage sales activities and customer relationships.


Other Requirements
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment. Comfortable with occasional bending, kneeling, and climbing as required for infrastructure maintenance.
  • Travel Requirements: Frequent travel may be required for training, pilot support, conferences, or to support remote office locations
  • While we appreciate the importance of schedule flexibility, it's essential to note that the nature of this role necessitates a regular and consistent onsite presence.


Range Energy’s compensation package includes a competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and a generous benefits package. The salary range for Mountain View, CA based applicants is between $175,000-$225,000 annually. Depending on experience, there may be a commission-based supplement to this base compensation. The total compensation will be determined based on multiple factors including domain knowledge, experience and location.
