People will always be our greatest asset and we place emphasis on enhancing the lives of our employees.Scope of Responsibility:This position is responsible for effectively monitoring and utilizing available resources to ensure the organization has access to the resources it needs to meet the expectations of its customers. This position also supports the needs of the business by assessing, creating, and maintaining accurate production and shipping schedules while addressing discrepancies and making decisions in accordance with customer requirements and company objectives.Essential Duties:• Manages, coaches, and develops the IBeam production team and shipping including all associated departmental activities• Develops and monitor reporting to measure actual planned performance of all aspects of the department and setting goals to support all activities• Develops and effectively communicates the master schedule, operations plan, production schedule, and associated reports using ERP data and capacity planning techniques• Monitors forward load reports and schedules to recommend overtime and staffing levels for affected work areas• Develops and manages capacity planning, scheduling tools, and daily production work priorities to identify capacity constraints with solutions to mitigate or correct potential negative impact• Monitors and verifies reports including implementing any necessary corrective actions to ensure that a high standard of accuracy is maintained• Oversees the execution and reporting of the department’s operational duties including, but not limited to, production schedules, shortages, material availability, purchase parts, MRP processes, drawing reviews, and all activities of the department• Supports both internal and external outsourcing processes and verifies that schedules, materials, on time delivery, and reporting are supporting overall company goals• Works with external/internal vendors to ensure timely delivery of products and implements safeguards to prevent complications that negatively impact production.• Verifies that costing and delivery is in line to help identify any discrepancies to prevent negative impact to the business• Maintains a full working knowledge of all related job functions within the IBeam production control department with the ability to fill in as required• Reports anticipated constraints or interruptions in the plan while actively looking for solutions to correct the identified issue to management and other business functions• Monitors department performance and uses root cause corrective action processes to document and reduce incidents that negatively affect the performance of the shop.• Ensures appropriate initial and ongoing training of employees in safety, forklifts and operational objectives• Seeks and identifies training needs for department to develop knowledge, skills and abilities to maintain competencies or become competent in other areas to enhance performance or promotional opportunities of employees• Build and or maintain effective business relationships with shipping carriers including management of pick-up/delivery schedules as well as rate negotiations to insure quality customer service• Ensures documentation for all shipments is completed accurately and timely according to respective government regulations, company policy, and customer specifications• Utilizes planning and organizational skills in coordination of the shipping team to effectively maximize their time as it applies to shipping and staging of all outbound shipments• Maintains employee performance through the proper use and administration of the organizations recognition, feedback and discipline processes to ensure efficient department operations• Ensures appropriate shipping data from various resources and formats is collected and input into various operational reports to provide correct, up-to-date information in order to analyze department operations, department scheduling and staffing. Reviews areas of non-conformances and defines corrective action where necessary• Interacts with administrative and management staff to facilitate inventory control, shipping and receiving process changes and improvements. Develops or assists in the development of and implements necessary action plans to accomplish department related objectives and to properly manage staff, safety and any employee issues• Works with the appropriate persons as necessary to correct equipment and other related shipping issues that are discovered to maximize shipping efficiency, minimize downtime and maintain plant safety. Works with the maintenance staff to ensure items are completed in a timely manner that accomplishes set objectives and accommodates shipping, production and maintenance schedules• Conducts monthly department meetings and communicates all process changes, scheduling, personnel and production related issues to department staff. Opens meeting to Q & A session. Minutes are posted within department and distributed to managers as required• Manages shipping functions in a cost effective manner without disruption to key business objectives• Resolves schedule conflicts as they arise and prepares project recovery schedules as needed• Interacts with divisional and executive management to identify production control process changes and develops action plans to capitalize on opportunities for improvement• Maintains a high degree of integrity concerning professional behavior and safety, organization, and cleanliness in production control department• Contributes to the team effort by effectively communicating and working well with members of other departments and personnel to accomplish assigned tasks and projects as needed• Additional duties as assignedPosition Requirements:• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience• Minimum of five (5) years experience in production control management or a similar field• Must possess exceptional leadership, written and verbal communication, and team-building skills.• Must be able to efficiently multi-task & prioritize; needs to demonstrate sound judgment in their decision-making ability• Must be able to analyze data and possess acute attention to detail while working in a fast-paced work environment• Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook, along with ERP/MRP manufacturing software• Must be willing and able to go to the production floor that will require the use of personal protective equipment.• Ability to adapt and overcome issues as they arise• Regular and timely attendance is requiredPhysical Requirements:• Position works in a production office environment requiring the use of office equipment such as a computer, copier, fax, phone, etc. most of the day• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to type, finger, handle or grasp, reach with hands and arms• Frequently required to sit, talk and hear• Position is required to frequently visit the production floor• Must wear required PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe metatarsal boots and hearing protection at all times while on the production floor• Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 25 poundsAt Sabre Industries, we invest in your future with a competitive benefits program.
