Responsibilities

The Infusion Nurse administers various types of IV therapies based on orders from Physicians and other medical professionals. IV Nurses offer comfort to patients as they deliver medications intravenously. Specific duties and responsibilities to consider for an IV Therapy Nurse job description include:

 

  • Assessing patients before IV treatments
  • Administering medications, vitamins and other fluids through IV lines, ports and central lines
  • Collecting samples and reviewing lab results
  • Monitoring patients throughout infusions to identify issues early
  • Responding to side effects or reactions to treatments
  • Explaining procedures to patients and families
  • Collaborating with other care team members
  • Maintaining detailed records of all patient care

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1.     Current and valid state RN License.

2.     Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

3.     Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
