Sprout Social is looking to hire a SEO Specialist to the Marketing team.

What you’ll do


  • Execute ongoing site wide SEO optimizations, technical updates, and SEO content development
  • Partner with members of the SEO team as well as other cross-functional teams to drive website traffic growth, including content, product marketing, social media, web development, and analytics
  • Increase SEO performance through content marketing (both writing and editing content), performing technical SEO analysis, identifying content optimization opportunities by leveraging tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Screaming Frog, Google Analytics and Google Search Console, and Conductor 
  • Contribute to short form optimization by crafting SEO content briefs, writing short-form content, and working with freelancers and the content team to provide direction for content


What you’ll bring


Sprout is looking for a SEO Specialist to join our revenue marketing team and help contribute to the foundation for future organic traffic growth. This is an opportunity to have a material impact on the performance of these top of funnel marketing metrics by improving our website’s organic rank and attracting a higher volume of users that are interested in learning about, trialing, and ultimately subscribing to our product. 

The minimum qualifications for this role include:


  • 3+ years of overall marketing experience, 1+ years of SEO experience (content and/or technical) either in-house or at an agency.
  • Understanding of keyword research, SEO content strategy and optimization, on- and off-page SEO, and overall understanding of the technical factors that go into organic rankings. 
  • Strong analytical skills, proficiency and ability to leverage SEO and web analytic tools data to make decisions.


Preferred qualifications for this role include:


  • B2B SaaS marketing experience and/or strong understanding of SaaS customer lifecycle and digital demand generation
  • Experience developing SEO content briefs and writing short-form content (500 words or less) to support onsite optimization 


How you’ll grow


Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots, including:


  • Learn about and be trained on Sprout’s marketing funnel and current website performance.
  • Work with the SEO Manager to set initial priorities and align on expectations for your role.
  • Work with the SEO and performance marketing teams to get onboarded, learn about Sprout’s SEO content development process, technical SEO opportunities, past and present SEO performance initiatives and strategies, and current performance.
  • Get to know everyone on the revenue marketing team and have a clear understanding of team goals and objectives.
  • Meet with other key partners in content, paid media, social media, product marketing, and web development to learn about the scope of their work and the various SEO projects they have participated in.
  • Participate in weekly stand ups and discuss the progress of current projects.


Within 3 months, you’ll start hitting your stride by:


  • Become familiar with the data in our SEO tools, like Ahrefs, SEMRush, Moz STAT, Screaming Frog, Google Analytics and Google Search Console, to identify performance issues and opportunities.
  • Participate in ongoing SEO keyword research and content performance analysis 
  • Start building relationships with the content team and gain a clear understanding of the content development process at Sprout.
  • Work on day-to-day content and technical SEO projects.
  • Help measure and report on performance of ongoing SEO initiatives.


Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through:


  • Have a grasp on overall SEO performance and start to identify areas of opportunity in both content and technical SEO.
  • Help establish, document, and socialize the process for SEO growth at Sprout.
  • Execute on short- and long-term SEO growth strategies to further improve technical and content performance across the website.
  • Actively work with the content, paid, and social teams to develop cross-channel strategies to drive customer acquisition.
  • Participate in quarterly roadmap planning for your team.
  • Begin regularly reporting on results and impact of ongoing SEO initiatives and optimizations.


Within 12 months, you’ll make this role your own by:


  • Fully understand your team’s KPIs and how to execute against them.
  • Have an understanding of our tech stack and the tools needed for performance analysis and drive effective SEO planning and decision making.
  • Better understand Sprout’s customer segments and how to attract these users through organic search.
  • Consistently measure, analyze, and communicate SEO performance.
  • Start proactively executing optimization strategies that improve organic rankings, drive traffic, and ultimately result in on-site engagement, trials, demos, leads, and revenue.
  • Possess a very strong understanding of the B2B SaaS model and how they relate to our SEO strategy.
  • Collaborate effectively across the organization to improve Sprout’s website experience as it relates to organic traffic.
  • Surprise us! Use your unique ideas and abilities to change Sprout in beneficial ways that we haven’t even considered yet. 


Of course what is outlined above is the ideal timeline, but things may shift based on business needs and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager.

Whenever possible, Sprout wants to provide our team with the flexibility to work in the location that makes the most sense for them. Sprout maintains a remote workforce in many places in the United States. However, we are not set up in all states, so please look at the drop-down box in our application to see whether your state is listed. Few roles require an office setting. If your position requires a physical presence in a Sprout office, it will be evident in the job listing and your offer letter.


The base pay range for this role is $65,000.00-$75,000.00 USD annually. Individual base pay is based on various factors, including relevant experience and skills, the responsibility of the role, and job duties/requirements. In addition to base pay, some Sales and Success roles can earn sales incentives. 


Sprout’s compensation ranges are intentionally broad to allow for our team members' growth within their role. These ranges were determined by a market-based compensation approach; we used data from trusted third-party compensation sources to set equitable, consistent and competitive ranges. We also evaluate compensation bi-annually, identify any changes in the market and make adjustments to our ranges and existing employee compensation as needed.


Base pay is only one element of an employee's total compensation at Sprout. Every Sprout team member has an opportunity to receive restricted stock units (RSUs) under Sprout’s equity plan. Employees (and their dependents) are covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life, accidental death, and dismemberment insurance, and Modern Health (a wellness benefit). Employees are able to enroll in Sprout’s company’s 401k plan, in which Sprout will match 50% of your contributions up to 6% with a maximum contribution. Sprout offers “Flexible Paid Time Off” and ten paid holidays.
