Department Head of Computer Science

Thank you for your interest in employment with Southeastern Louisiana University. Southeastern Louisiana University's College of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Department Head for the Computer Science Department. The Computer Science Department at Southeastern Louisiana University (SELU) is seeking an innovative and dedicated leader to serve as Department Head. This position requires a collaborative and strategic leader to guide the department in achieving academic and administrative excellence. As the chief academic and administrative officer of the department, the Department Head will be responsible for fostering a culture in which teaching, research, scholarship, and service are prioritized and celebrated. For full consideration, please apply by January 30, 2025. The position will remain open until filled. The review process will continue through February 28, 2025, or until the position is filled. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Terminal degree in a discipline directly related to the degree programs offered by the department, including, but not limited to, Computer Science and Information Technology by hire date. A proven record of excellence in research and teaching, with qualifications that support appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Demonstrated success in academic administration, with experience in leading teams, and managing budgets and programs, or relevant industry experience that can be leveraged to enrich the classroom and connect theory with real-world practice. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Proven experience in developing partnerships and collaborative relationships with regional companies to support departmental growth and student opportunities. A strong record of excellence in research and teaching that reflects commitment to high academic standards and innovative practices. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and foster an inclusive environment. Demonstrated commitment to equal opportunity and diversity in an academic or industry setting. Experience with the procedures for maintaining ABET accreditation, including program assessment, continuous improvement processes, and compliance with accreditation standards.
