English is the global language of business, culture, and communication, and over 1.5 billion people around the world are actively trying to learn right now. Others dream of communicating with the half-billion native Spanish speakers across the globe. The problem is that it's nearly impossible to learn to speak a language without constant access to a speaking partner. Grammar and vocab apps don't really help – you need to actually converse with someone.

Speak is on a journey to fix this. We're creating an AI-powered experience that replicates the flow of a conversation, without needing a human on the other end. The goal is to make it radically more accessible to be able to have conversations in a foreign language and eventually help hundreds of millions of people gain fluency who otherwise wouldn't be able to.

We started on this journey over five years ago and we've still got a long ways to go. We're thoughtfully adding new team members only when we think they can truly play a big role in our mission.

Speak launched first in South Korea where we have quickly grown to become the top grossing education app in the country. We have now delivered this winning product to more than 40 countries globally and are continuing to expand to more markets in the coming months. The company is well funded, and as of December 2024, we've reached a $1B valuation with our Series C round, through key partners like Accel, OpenAI, Founders Fund, Y Combinator, Khosla Ventures, Lachy Groom, Josh Buckley, and more. We’re a team of more than 90 based throughout San Francisco, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, and Ljubljana.

About This Role

Speak is growing to be one of the top language education apps in Taiwan, and we are looking for a Growth Marketing Manager to join our small and mighty team based in Taipei! We are looking for someone with full-funnel growth marketing experience, especially within the performance marketing & paid ads campaign management sphere. This is a full-time position based in Taipei, with a hybrid working structure where you work in-person a couple times a week with our awesome local team.

What you’ll be doing

  • Be an owner of Taiwan paid ads operations

    • Manage Meta, Google, LINE, and TikTok channels, while discovering & testing new channels

    • Partner with our marketing designers to plan & run tests on various paid ads content

    • Oversee daily paid ads operations — monitor performance, iterate and refresh strategies, and make timely adjustments based on hypotheses

  • Plan lifecycle campaigns & flows

    • Optimize the in-app user journey and revamp lifecycle flows to improve conversion rates with the central team

    • Identify local channels (like LINE) and create CRM workflows and campaigns to aid with user onboarding and retention

  • Monitor daily user funnel

    • Track the daily conversion trends in the user flow to monitor and improve team efficiency, properly attributing to successful channels and creatives

  • Marketing campaign support

    • Collaborate with both local and central teams to plan and to review campaign performance and insights

What we’re looking for

  • At least 3 years of experience in growth marketing, ideally covering performance/paid marketing

  • Strong analytical mindset, with direct experience in marketing measurement and data management

  • Ability to write and iterate on effective marketing copies through experimentation

  • Direct experience & insight in lifecycle or CRM marketing is a huge plus!

  • Ability to work under pressure, quickly adapt, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Native-level proficiency in Mandarin + business proficiency in English
