The AUKUS, Submarines, and Industrial Base Group (ASIG), within the Sea, Land, Air Division, provides timely, objective, analytic assessments that integrate technical, operational, programmatic, policy and business analysis to NAVSEA Team Submarine program offices and key stakeholders surrounding submarine platform construction.  Team Submarine unifies submarine platform procurement activities, which includes the Columbia-class SSBN program (a Major Defense Acquisition Program and the Navy’s top acquisition priority), the Virginia-class SSN program and the new SSN-X program (developing the next generation attack submarine), to bring improved capabilities to our undersea forces.  Analysts and Engineers supporting Team Submarine will continue SPA’s decades of support to the SSBN force, as well as supporting oversight of cutting-edge attack submarine construction, assisting in developing the design requirements for the SSN platform of the future, and helping plan and execute new and innovative strategies to strengthen the critical submarine shipbuilding industrial base. These are high-profile, major acquisition and manufacturing programs of significant importance to the future capabilities of the US Navy in an era of renewed strategic competition.

Responsibilities

The Risk Analyst will provide support to the NAVSEA AUKUS program, focusing on program support to undersea platform acquisition. Responsibilities as a Risk Analyst will include assisting stakeholders in identifying potential risks and risk assessments and the development of S.M.A.R.T. mitigation plans; engage with stakeholders to regularly review and update their risks; support the implementation of risk mitigations and track their effectiveness; ensure compliance with AUKUS risk management guidance and relevant NAVSEA policies; collaborate with team members to enhance risk management frameworks and tools; analyze schedules and other program management tools (i.e., assumptions) as a source for potential risks; lead risk reviews with stakeholders and senior AUKUS I&A leadership.

 

This position is based out of SPA's Alexandria, VA HQ, with potential for light telework and some travel to client and stakeholder locations, including potential international travel.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Basic understanding of risk management concepts and frameworks (e.g., ISO 31000)
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint, and data analysis tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
  • Current DoD security clearance - minimum Secret, with the ability to maintain it throughout employment

 

 Additional Qualifications Desired, but not required:

  • Experience with Team Submarine and NAVSEA
  • Experience/knowledge of Navy acquisition program office organizations and processes
  • Experience working with international partners
  • Risk management certification, such as RIMS-CRMP or PMI-RMP
