Temp. Manager, Social Media, Topic

The Temporary Manager, Social Media reports into the VP, Marketing and will develop and execute the organic social media content strategy for Topic Streaming service. The ideal team member will have an insatiable curiosity for audience behaviors, and expert knowledge of engagement marketing strategies and tactics across social media channels, partnerships, video platforms and the overall media landscape.


This position is a one month assignment with the possibility of extending month to month. 


Responsibilities:


  • Develop and execute the engagement strategy for Topic streaming service, ensuring it aligns with our business goals, voice, and individual brand sensibilities to maximize engagement and grow audience visibility
  • Work closely with the different Topic departments to understand priorities and challenges
  • Oversee and run Topic’s monthly content strategy session, and implement agreed upon ideas
  • Collaborate and partner with the Media Community Manager, Growth Manager and Engagement Manager on marketing strategies, content planning and output
  • Attend all required team meetings
  • Advise Topic Studios social media managers to provide audience development and engagement expertise and support, as needed.
  • Solid knowledge of UGC landscape, building out campaigns, CTA, and monitoring deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Activate promotional partnerships with external partners, talent and events, when needed.
  • Other appropriately related projects/duties as assigned.


Social Media Specifics


  • Manage the content calendar, story selection, frequency and creative expression with an eye toward growing audience, engagement and advocacy.
  • Ensure that all social campaigns are structured based on goals and KPIs
  • Participate in paid media budget allocation and boosting strategy
  • Lead the testing strategy with the goal of constant iteration and optimization
  • Work closely with the Topic Analytics team to understand and optimize performance
  • Maintain an understanding of who our audiences are on social, the differences by platform and brand, and develop strategies to grow and deepen our relationship with those audiences
  • Monitor the latest media, social trends, and tools and incorporate these into Topic’s social strategy; regularly provide internal teams with updated best practices and recommendations
  • In collaboration with Media Community Manager, monitor user comments across platforms and develop macros and strategies for implementation
  • Write creative briefs for internal creative team as well as external creators; provide turnkey storyboards for reference
  • Develop and present frequent performance reporting


Background & Qualifications:


  • 4- 6 years of specific and/or combined experience in social media strategy/marketing, influencer media, content execution, and overall audience engagement.
  • Experience building audience engagement, ideally with a media organization and/or driving direct-to-consumer subscription-based brands.
  • Deep knowledge of social platforms best practices and an endless passion for innovation and experimentation in the social space.
  • Knowledge of tools such as Social Flow, Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, Buffer, GA4, Canva, TikTok Spark, Gorgias, #paid
  • Ability to combine data and creative intuition to create social strategies and content recommendations that will attract and engage fans, build communities and drive growth.
  • Expert knowledge of organic and paid social strategies and tactics on FB, IG, TW, YT, TT, Reddit, etc.
  • Adept at interpreting data and shaping it into actionable strategies and recommendations
  • Comfortable managing and collaborating with freelancers, external agencies and influencers
  • Strong writing / copy creation skills
  • Strong project management skills

  • Customer-first mindset, with the ability to identify and understand audiences, how to reach them for maximum engagement.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to collaborate, build consensus and work across teams.
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize work appropriately
  • Experience in a start-up environment a plus


Compensation (NYC Only): The salary range for this role is prorated monthly based on $77,000 - $82,000 annually. The salary offered will be determined based on relative experience, skillset, and other job-related factors.
