Ad Creative Video Editor

ABOUT US

At Tharp Ventures, we help health & wellness brands grow with soul and precision. That means top-tier paid media strategy, conversion-optimized email, and cinematic content that actually performs. We’re a full-stack marketing agency.

We're also building a personal brand media engine focused on storytelling, transformation, and emotional resonance. Our content lives across both organic AND paid social—and we need an editor who can bring it all to life.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a video editor who’s more than just technically sharp—you’re someone who understands how to tell a great story and how to make it convert. You know how to take a loose idea, a rough voiceover, or a 90-minute podcast and turn it into a clip people will watch on repeat.

You should be comfortable working in fast-paced environments, receiving feedback, and taking creative initiative when the brief isn’t fully fleshed out.

WHAT YOU’LL BE EDITING

  • Podcast Repurposing Take long-form podcasts (often science-based or educational) and cut them into social clips, quote-based shorts, and even paid ads. You understand tone, structure, and the difference between organic vs performance content. → [View Examples Here]
  • Short-Form Performance Content Create Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts that stop scrolls and hold attention. You're comfortable using pacing, punchy subtitles, and audio layering to elevate simple talking-head footage. → [View Example Here]
  • Narrative & B-Roll Storytelling Assemble footage using b-roll libraries and stock, layering visuals under voiceover to build emotional, cinematic micro-stories.
  • Motion Graphics & Design Layering Use After Effects (or similar) to bring ideas to life—dynamic lower thirds, animated data, and visual flourishes that help drive a point home. → [View Example Here]
  • Ad Creative Brief Execution Read a brief, absorb the vibe, and take it somewhere better. You don’t just follow instructions—you elevate them. → [View Examples Here]

CORE VALUES

  • HEALTH
  • Think Big, Act Bold
  • Own the Outcome
  • Growth is Everything
  • Team First
  • Results Over Ego
  • Strong portfolio of short-form social content (Reels, TikToks, Shorts)
  • Experience cutting long-form podcasts into engaging clips
  • Comfortable editing for both organic and paid social performance
  • High-levels of proficiency in Adobe Premiere or Davinci Resolve
  • Must utilize Mac OS
  • 100mbps Internet speed or greater
  • Advanced motion graphics skills (After Effects or Fusion)
  • Strong sense of visual rhythm, emotional pacing, and sound design
  • Ability to self-direct and hit deadlines without micro-management
  • Bonus: Experience editing in the wellness, psychology, or personal growth space

IMPORTANT:

TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT

As part of this application, you are required to submit a test edit. Unfortunately, due to the sheer number of applicants (hundreds per day with not even a portfolio link to share) we have to make this a requirement. If you complete the test edit, your chances of working with us in a long-term position are dramatically increased.

Here are the instructions. Please ensure to include a link to the test edit inside your application form.

What We're Really Looking For — The Level 5 Editor

We’re not just looking for someone who knows how to edit.

We’re looking for someone who feels it.

Someone who can take raw footage and turn it into something that moves people—or makes them stop scrolling.

Someone who gets why a clip works, not just how to put it together.

We call that person a Level 5 Editor.

Most people never make it past Level 2 or 3. They do decent work, hit deadlines, and follow instructions. But they’re not shaping culture. They’re not driving results and making it beautiful.

Here’s how we think about the levels:

Level 1 – The Technician

🎬 You know how to edit a clip. Add captions. Trim the fat.

🔁 You can follow a style reference and get it 80% there.

🤖 You might use AI tools or templates but lean on them heavily.

📦 You need clear instructions to make something decent.

Level 2 – The Follower with Style

📱You’re plugged into trends.

🎧 You can cut to music, use a hook, and make things feel native to Reels or TikTok.

📁 You’ve got a folder of swipe files and styles you like.

🖼️ Your edits are clean—but they don’t always feel like anything yet.

Level 3 – The Story-Crafter

🧠 You can take a long podcast episode and pull out 3–5 powerful clips.

✂️ You know the difference between editing for organic and for ads.

🖼️ You’re starting to use b-roll, motion graphics, and pacing to tell stories, not just stitch clips.

📝 You follow a brief but sometimes find better ideas within it.

Level 4 – The Creative Partner

🎞️ You understand how to create emotion. You can make someone feel inspired, focused, even goosebumps.

🧩 You can combine voiceover, music, b-roll, and motion graphics to build a full narrative arc.

🛠️ You know when to follow direction—and when to push it further.

📈 You’re thinking about how content performs just as much as how it looks.

Level 5 – The Unseen Hand

🔥 Your edits don’t feel like edits—they feel like moments.

🎙️ You can take a scientific podcast and turn it into a compelling ad, without losing the soul.

🧬 You shape rhythm, tension, silence, and emotion like you’re scoring a film.

💡 You don’t just follow creative briefs—you elevate them.

🎯 You know how to pull people in, hold them, and make them care.

🌊 You’re tapped into culture, story, and performance—and it all shows up in your work.

If reading that gave you chills or made you say “finally, someone gets it”—you might be who we’ve been looking for.

  • Professional development opportunities
  • Remote work environment
  • $250/m wellness/health stipend
  • PTO
  • Opportunities for career growth, training, and professional development. (We invest heavily in professional development, so you will receive access to the top courses/events in the world)
  • A remote, collaborative work environment that values creativity, innovation, and results.
