We are looking for a talented sales assistants who loves retail, loves a challenge, and loves waking up each day with a passion for making a difference.  Support the Store Manager with the day to day operations and provide an inspiring in-store experience for our team, customers and community members. 

You will assist with:
•    Retail sales and operation of Point of Sale devices;
•    Collecting, sorting and pricing donations in store;
•    Assist in the development and coordination visual merchandising and store presentation
•    Provide exceptional Customer Service 
•    Display stock in correct departments, following policy and procedure.
•    Follow Occupational Health and Safety policy and procedures
•    Demonstrate TSA core values in all work related activities.

This position exists to perform customer focused retail tasks that support the daily operation of the store and the missional objectives of The Salvation Army.

This will include the maximisation of sales and productivity to deliver surplus to support Corps activities. The thrift shop also exists as a valued mission expression of the ministry of The Salvation Army.

About the role  

We are seeking a values-driven Sales Assistant for our Swan Hill Thrift Shop in Casual capacity.  Reporting to the Thrift shop store manager this is a Permanent, Part-time  (19 hours per week) role, located in Swan hill, Victoria.

You will successfully  

  • Provide exceptional customer service in all areas of the store (shop floor, fitting room, register, etc.)
  • Assist with marketing and promotional activities execution and coordination
  • Process donations and ensure stock is on the shop floor at correct price points
  • Maintain store’s visual standards and ensure stock is organised
  • Assist with housekeeping activities to ensure timely completion
  • Follow Work Health and Safety guidelines, including submitting safety incidents
  • Ensure site and personal security are maintained by all team members
  • Perform store opening and closing procedures
  • Adhere to secure cash handling and banking procedures
  • Provide direction, coaching, and guidance to team members
  • Report serious incidents as per established procedures
  • Follow procedures for all tasks
  • Perform additional duties as required by management

You will have 

  • Relevant retail industry and/or customer service experience 
  • Demonstrated customer service experience working in a retail environment with an ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Sound presentation and communication skills (both verbal and written) with an ability to interact with a variety of people
  • Values-Driven: Alignment with the values of integrity, respect, compassion, collaboration, and diversity. 
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
