Contract, Food Science Career Exploration

Summary: The SME will provide consultative guidance, lead assessments and discovery phases for projects, and analyze and recommend simulation application strategies from a domain perspective. The SME is responsible for exceeding client expectations with a high level of knowledge in Food Science. Experience with the delivery and management of technology products and solutions would be beneficial. The SME will understand, qualify and propose where simulation-based career exploration opportunities exist from an industry perspective. 


Responsibilities:
  • Work with the product design team to create authentic task simulations in service of career exploration.
  • Provide guidance to designers in an exploratory phase, outline review, and storyboard review.
  • Create task analyses outlining all knowledge and steps a trainee must take to perform a particular skill, and provide media references to inform the final design.
  • Ensure desired customer outcomes are clearly understood and achieved.
  • Help build strong relationships with customers. 
  • Evaluate simulation deliverables and ensure that the features are in line with industry, necessary standards/regulations and customer expectations.


Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of Food Scientist or Technologist industry experience and knowledge with recruiting, training or hiring in this field.
  • A degree in Food Science or related field is preferred, with experience in Education (training, licensing/certification knowledge) and Leadership.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and educational requirements of various Food Scientist or Technologist career paths.
  • Strong technology skills and experience with virtual reality products would be beneficial. 
  • Strong analytical skills of where virtual reality might be the best fit for educational purposes would be beneficial
  • Provide advice on educational program evaluation, e.g. design, process improvement, performance measurement (quality, safety, cost, etc.), educational effectiveness.
  • Ability to communicate with senior level leaders in educational institutions and industry , but also at times to less technical audiences who may not be as tech-savvy.
  • Excellent people and communication (both written & oral) skills.
  • Effective organizational, analytical, time management, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills and habits; ability to complete projects under tight deadlines with little/no direct supervision.
  • Self motivation is key, working with a small company that is fast paced and remote.


What We Offer:


The hours needed for this role is 14-16 weeks (approximately 16-18 hours total), and the total compensation is $1200 for this project.
