Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We have a number of opportunities available for Admission Specialists to join the Applications and Admissions team. These are permanent roles. Our role is to make programme decisions for prospective students, so we need staff who are confident in making decisions in a high volume environment. We often interact with academic staff, student support and other staff so your ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders will be vital.

You will make programme decisions for University admission according to set entry criteria and within agreed timeframes. You’ll be an expert in programme decisions, and will advise prospective students, agents and other stakeholders about the University’s courses and entry requirements. You will use your reading and interpreting skills to put together regulations and policies and put them into action whilst continuously improving all aspects of your role.

These are full-time, 37.5 hours per week roles on a permanent contract. The salary range is $68,600 - $76,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.

We’re searching for a customer focussed individual who can take policies and procedures and apply them to make quality decisions.

You can look forward to getting involved in research as you build your knowledge of domestic and overseas education systems, and learn the University of Auckland admission regulations inside and out. 

  • Experience in making programme decisions and working in Student Services Online and Oracle Service Cloud.
  • Excellent customer service and stakeholder service skills ensuring that these are the driving force behind your decisions and activities
  • Interpersonal effectiveness: clear and constructive communication, and behaviours that influence others and inspire co-operation and achievement.
  • Be advocates for change and innovation to ensure we’re delivering a service that is faster better and easier for our stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience working in an admission environment and understanding of programme requirements.
