Walmart’s Global Sourcing Technology team is responsible for building and maintaining software that enables Walmart to Source the best quality products at the lowest possible price and pass that savings to our customers so they can Save Money and Live Better. About Team

At Walmart Global Tech, we leverage Generative AI to transform data into actionable insights. We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design scalable pipelines and data infrastructure to support cutting-edge AI solutions.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll collaborate with ML Engineers and Data Scientists to build and optimize the data foundation for Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) applications.

What You Will DO

• Develop scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to process large structured and unstructured datasets.
• Manage distributed data systems (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Big Query) to support AI workflows.
• Partner with ML Engineers to create data schemas and integrate vector databases like FAISS or Pinecone for RAG frameworks.
• Ensure data quality, optimize performance, and monitor pipelines for reliability.
• Automate workflows and explore emerging tools for AI-driven data engineering.

What You Will Bring

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering with expertise in frameworks like Spark, Kafka, or Airflow.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and cloud platforms ( GCP, Azure).
• Experience with distributed systems, data modeling, and working with unstructured data.
• Familiarity with vector databases and AI integration.
• Support for ML/AI teams in training and inference workflows.

• Knowledge of feature stores and MLOps tools.
• Exposure to Generative AI frameworks and LLM use cases.

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with 7-10 years of experience in design and development of highly scalable applications and platform development in product-based companies or R&D divisions  
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills.  
• Must be able to work effectively both on teams as well as be self-motivated, task oriented and organized. 
• Ability to adapt to change quickly, willingness to learn new and emerging technologies.  
• Strong customer focus and obsession with quality.
