Job Description:Grocery MerchandiserThis role involves the ordering, restocking and presentation of grocery items, as well as contributing to the development of purchasing and promotional programs. The inventory control process is closely monitored to ensure compliance with WFM standards for orders and replenishment. In addition, assistance is provided in the creation and maintenance of high-quality promotional displays in accordance with OTS guidelines. With a strong emphasis on professionalism, all team members are expected to deliver exceptional customer service and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures. It is also important that each team member is familiar with and able to perform tasks from other departmental job descriptions. Adopting a proactive approach to achieving WFM's core values, regional and national initiatives, and health and safety regulations, specifically relating to food safety, is essential in this position.Job Responsibilities:• Writer Certification Program• Resupplies items by following appropriate purchasing protocols.• Purchases fresh and non-perishable grocery items while ensuring that the stock levels are maintained effectively.• Ensures timely and precise responses to open purchase order reports by constantly monitoring and acting on them.• Maintains optimal inventory levels while minimizing spoilage and reducing shrinkage by implementing effective control measures.• Performs all necessary inventory control procedures such as spoilage management, and compiles sampling, temperature and sweeping worksheets as necessary.• Monitoring inventory turnovers necessitates ensuring accuracy and punctuality of product orders.• Manages the process of obtaining customized orders from foreign clients.• The monitoring and management of the transportation of goods, disposal of waste, and prevention of spoilage is conducted through analysis and control.• Facilitates leadership in conducting stocktaking processes.• Ensures financial viability through the achievement and surpassing of procurement and revenue objectives.• The individual arrives at their work station on schedule, looking neat and professional, and prepared to begin their duties. They attend all mandatory meetings and training sessions, and work diligently through all scheduled shifts.• Demonstrates outstanding customer service by attending to the requirements of customers in a prompt and efficient manner, while also exhibiting suggestive selling tactics and strategies; responds to phone calls and pages in a courteous and timely fashion.• Boosts the potential for sales by ensuring that proper procedures are being implemented for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products.• Adheres to or guarantees adherence to established protocols, encompassing Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.• Guarantees the preservation of a hygienic and neat workplace and shopping area; keeps the apparatus compliant with WFM's cleanliness and safety criteria.• Executes designated tasks during opening, mid, and closing shifts and verifies the precision of signage and pricing.• Safety hazards and violations are reported as soon as they are identified.• Assumes additional responsibilities based on directives given by store, regional, or national top brass.Job Skills:• Profound understanding of all types of grocery items.• Proficiency in understanding and implementing all grocery merchandise requirements.• Demonstrating expertise on product knowledge and exhibiting passion while educating the team is critical.• A solid foundation in mathematical fundamentals is vital.• Proficiency in utilizing various computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering software.• Exceptional communication abilities and a collaborative mindset are essential for success in the workplace.• The capacity to effectively communicate information in a courteous and comprehensible manner to colleagues, clients, and suppliers.• Demonstrating the capacity to fulfill customer service expectations and standards by consistently meeting the needs of customers, vendors, and Team Members.• Proficiency in adhering to instructions and protocols paired with excellent time management and organizational expertise.• The love for organic and unprocessed foods and the ethos of Whole Foods Market.• Possessing a solid work ethic and capable of managing a demanding workload with a sense of urgency.• Comprehending and adhering to the quality objectives of WFM is paramount for optimal performance levels.Experience:• More than a year of retail experience under my belt.Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:• The capability to carry 50 pounds is essential.• Roughly 75% of an 8-hour work day can be spent on one's feet, walking or standing.• When it comes to utilizing our hands, we engage in various actions such as single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.• To perform work, a person has to execute movements such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.• Being in contact with cleaning compounds that have been authorized by the FDA.• Below the freezing point, at 32 degrees Fahrenheit or less, temperatures can cause water to transform into ice.• Capable of performing tasks in damp and chilly conditions.• Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling by being available to work on weekends, holidays and night shifts when required.• Proficient skills in operating heavy machinery, electronic pallet jacks, and box cutters to ensure efficient work processes.This document aims to provide a broad overview of the fundamental obligations involved in a position, and it is not intended to be an exhaustive enumeration of duties.
