Lead Certified Medical Assistant

Provides leadership, expertise, support, and training to Medical Assistants and Ambulatory Care Assistants. Performs basic nursing skills, and/or serves under the direction and supervision of the practice physician and/or registered nursing staff

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Completion of a Medical Assistant program.

3. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

4. Current National Certification as CMA required.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Associates Degree in healthcare related field.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.  Other duties may be assigned.

1. Greets and escorts patient to exam rooms; prepares for physician visit by obtaining initial information and vital signs.

2. Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies.

3. Assists with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures.

4. Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed.

5. Assists provider during patient examinations and procedures.

6. Educates patients on follow up expectations.

7. Maintains quality control testing logs as required.

8. Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition.

9. Assists patients with completion of medical documentation.

10. Serves as main point of contact for back office and clinical staff.

11. Provides direction and guidance to staff M.A.’s and ACA’s.

12. Serves as the primary training facilitator for onboarding new M.A.’s and ACA’s.

13. Provides supervision to staff in absence of Supervisor/Manager.

14. Assists in scheduling of staff.

1. MEDIUM WORK - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly).

2. Ability to bend, stoop, reach and be capable of normal rotation, standing and walking for an 8-12 hour shift.
