Job Description

AECOM's Transportation business line has a position available in Piscataway or Bloomfield, NJ for a Civil Engineer with Highway Design experience. In this role the selected candidate will be working on transportation projects for various clients including NJDOT, New Jersey Turnpike, PANYNJ, and counties. Design work will include Conceptual Design, Preliminary Design, and Final Design.  This is a hybrid-role requiring in-office presence 3 days/week.

The individual in this role will be entrusted with critical responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Providing rigorous oversight and conducting thorough quality reviews for a civil design team engaged in complex roadway/highway design work. This encompasses crucial elements such as horizontal and vertical alignment, roadway sections, drainage design, Right of Way (ROW) engineering, interchange layout, utility engineering, and signing and striping design.
  • Assuming full accountability for the meticulous development of contract documents, including comprehensive plans, detailed specifications, and accurate estimates. Additionally, the role involves the preparation of critical reports and construction schedules.
  • Delivering expert technical guidance for in-depth studies and design initiatives, ensuring the highest standards of engineering excellence are maintained.
  • Contributing significantly to proposal preparation, playing a vital role in securing new business opportunities for the organization.
  • Formulating precise estimates for engineering budgets and schedules to meet stringent requirements on large-scale projects, ensuring optimal resource allocation and timely delivery.
  • Actively participating in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables, maintaining a commitment to quality assurance and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering required plus 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
  • Demonstrated experience of the NJ Turnpike's and NJDOT's design criteria including experience with geometric design, utilities, MPT, ROW, signing, and striping as well as contract document preparation
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in MicroStation using InRoads and OpenRoads
  • New Jersey PE License is preferred or ability to obtain via reciprocity
