Job Description

AECOM is seeking a strategic VP Global Transportation – Industrial Development Director who is a high-energy professional with considerable gravitas, agile and flexible in one’s approach and has significant presence. Must have a passion for growing the global freight movement business.

AECOM’s Transportation Goods Movement Market Sector provides infrastructure solutions across the global supply chain. The Business Unit provides planning, design, and construction expertise to manufacturers, ports, freight railroads, e-retailers, and trucking companies.

Within the Transportation Goods Movement BU, AECOM plans, engineers, and oversees construction for some of the largest port, rail and freight facilities worldwide.

AECOM services provided within the Goods Movement market sector include:

  • Grant Application Support and Grant Administration
  • Site Selection and Real Estate Advisory
  • Financial and Economic Feasibility Analysis
  • Port and Freight Models and Simulations
  • Freight Rail Track Design and Intermodal Transfer Facilities
  • Passenger, Cruise, and Ferry Terminals
  • Program and Project Management
  • Engineering Design
  • Construction Management
  • Container and General Cargo Terminals
  • Shore-to-ship Power Design
  • Terminal Operations Environmental Management

The Director will report to the Senior Vice President – Global Market Sector Leader, Goods Movement. This Director will be an integral part of the Goods Movement Market Sector’s leadership team, supporting and helping to lead the Market Sector and AECOM’s Transportation’s strategy. This individual should possess an intimate and thorough understanding of the port, rail and industrial development business. The Director shall have proven experience in working within an international, highly matrixed environment and be comfortable in a diverse, multi-cultural environment with an appreciation for diversity, equity, and inclusion.  This Director can be located out of any of our AECOM offices in the US, Canada or LATAM.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Managing AECOM’s relationships with private sector industrial clients, supervising the interaction between AECOM’s various business lines and these critical clients
  • Engaging with clients, both at the executive and project management level in order to represent AECOM’s strengths while building long-term partnerships
  • Focusing on upcoming program / project pursuits with this client base and leading the capture planning of various pursuits
  • Proactively interacting with AECOM’s critical client base to introduce new services and innovations, creating strategic partnerships, and unlocking valuable projects
  • Ability to describe the whole of AECOM’s services from freight rail and intermodal design, to environment permitting, to facilities and warehouse design, etc., collaborating with AECOM subject matter experts to highlight the full suite of AECOM’s capabilities to these important clients
  • Accountable for significant growth with a small subset of goods movement clients, addressing individual and team KPIs
  • Collaborate globally with AECOM’s Goods Movement project teams to understand the Company’s capabilities and innovations and sell those to AECOM’s critical clients
  • Leading client programs, depending on expertise and background

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS + 12 Years Of Related Experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of leadership.
  • 12+ years experience working within the goods movement industry as an owner or consultant.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE and or certification in project management (e.g., PMP)
