The Human Resources Generalist serves as a business partner owning the management and coordination of onboarding, employee relations, legal compliance, day-to-day department operational support and employee engagement programs and initiatives. The Generalist manages recruitment, NAVEX cases, background adjudications, and all compliance documentation and resubmittal of these documents as required by law and our compliance department. This role can expect to travel approximately 10%-15% out of area and overnight.RESPONSIBILITIES:• Lead and serve on project teams focused on continuous improvement initiatives related to on boarding of associates, employee engagement and other employment related activities• Conduct and resolve employee relations matters including performance issues, accidents, policy violations, and other issues as necessary; provide guidance concerning employee development as well as disciplinary action• Lead employee engagement plans, activities, and recognition programs• Serve as liaison between employees and each Center of Excellence across the enterprise; assist with leave of absence, workers compensation and benefits information while providing guidance to leaders• Facilitate onboarding, orientation, and new hire processing as well as offboarding activities• Create and maintain employee personnel, medical, and benefit files• Create and maintain various Human Resources documents and databases; prepare and analyze data, quarterly and/or monthly Human Resources metrics and reports• Manage associate information within HRIS and Payroll systems• Lead and conduct offer letter generation and background adjudication processes for non-exempt roles• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance• Implement and ensure compliance with company policies• Partner in development of quality assurance programs to ensure compliance as well as highest level of service is provided to our internal and external customers; propose process improvement programs; design and implement corrective action in the event deficiencies/inefficiencies are foundQUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):• Must possess one or more of the following:• Associate's degree in human resources management, Organizational Behavior, Business, or a related field with four (4) years of human resources generalist experience• High School diploma with six (6) years of human resources generalist experience• Minimum of three (3) years of Prior work experience with employee relations, development, and engagement as well as policy implementation and interpretation• Minimum of two (2) years of work experience demonstrating knowledge of employment laws and civil rights legislation• Minimum of three (3) years of union grievance and union support experience• Minimum of three (3) years of recruiting experience• Ability to handle complex or sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines• Highly proficient and fully functional in all Microsoft Office applications and able to effectively utilize all available office management technology• Able to work independently and be self-directed, but also take direction from all levels of managers within the assigned region, which may result in having to re-prioritize work activities on a regular basis• Professional, articulate, and able to use good independent judgment• Flexibility and ability to travel periodically/regularly, depending on company needs, with some overnight travel• Outstanding oral and written communication skills• Ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization, including with clients, while functioning as a team playerPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE TO HAVE):• Prior work experience with the use of WinTeam, iCIMS (or an ATS system) and other human resources support systems• Prior specialized education or experience in human resources and/or employment law• Knowledge of Code of Federal Regulation requirements, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)• Demonstrated ability to facilitate training to include the development of training materials as well as delivery• Certificate in HR Management through a University, Professional Human Resources (PHR) certification or higher• Prior Human Resources experience in a service industry business• Ability to speak, read, and write Spanish and/or Polish fluentlyBENEFITS:• Medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, and disability insurance• Enrollment in our company's 401(k)plan, subject to eligibility requirements• Eight paid holidays annually, five sick days, and four personal days• Vacation time offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly.
