American Express Technology is a critical Enterprise function, serving as the backbone of all we do, from providing the underlying infrastructure of the company to building core products and services we deliver to our customers. AmEx Technology has changed dramatically over the last few years, and as Technology continues to evolve its business strategies and operating model, the Finance team will adapt accordingly to best position the organization in supporting American Express businesses.

This Portfolio Manager will manage the budget and forecasting for the Production Management and Engineering organization. This role will focus on providing critical financial insights to various teams, supporting leadership with data-driven decisions, and enhancing existing financial processes and tools. Our Finance Team is committed to ongoing improvement and evolution of its roles and responsibilities, and as such, the below may be subject to refinement, addition, or modification in the future.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support financial planning, results analysis, and management reporting for the organization (Tech Investment, Tech Operations, and Software Capitalization)
  • Perform in-depth financial analysis, identifying trends and reporting findings to leaders for strategic decision-making
  • Maintain and update dashboards and files, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of key financial metrics
  • Prepare and support presentation materials (e.g., monthly results) for key financial metrics and trends, delivering clear insights and data for leadership discussions
  • Execute on ad hoc analyses stemming from leader asks

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of Finance or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite required, especially Excel
  • Experience using Ariba, Clarity, PMDB, GL, and VPM
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to distill financial data into clear and concise insights across various levels of leadership
  • Ability to tailor messaging to fit the audience
  • Robust skills to synthesize large amounts of complex data with the ability to draw key conclusions
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities effectively and drive results while meeting critical deadlines
  • Understanding of P&Ls, financial metrics, cost drivers and forecast methodologies 
  • Self-starter with a high degree of intellectual curiosity
  • Strong team player with the ability to work across multiple Portfolio Managers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Apptio experience preferred
  • MBA / CPA or equivalent preferred

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
