Ready to shape the future of science and global health? ATCC, a leading nonprofit biological resources and standards organization, is seeking an onsite Lead Scientist to push the boundaries of 21st-century science. We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Scientist to focus on the development of cutting-edge technologies like organoids, cell-based assays, and co-culture systems. Extensive experience with cancer organoid culture systems, with a proven track record in generating organoid models from various tissues is required.Deep understanding of disease biology and experience applying organoid models in therapeutic or translational research is required.

 

In this pivotal role, you'll manage and expand ATCC's in vitro capabilities, guiding a talented team to create advanced 3D models for oncology, disease modeling, drug discovery, and regenerative medicine. Be a part of the Microphysiological Systems (MPS) program and help shape the future of human health through groundbreaking research and development.

Responsibilities

  • Research and Development: Lead innovative research strategies focused on organoid technology development, advancing disease modeling and translational applications. Design and optimize organoid systems derived from various tissues to address specific research questions.
  • Team Management and Collaboration: Manage the Organoid Core for the development of products and applications, strategizing timelines, introducing organoids quality control, training dedicated staff, upkeeping of organoids biobanking per ATCC’s standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate organoid models into the portfolio pipelines.
  • Technical Excellence and Compliance: Establish new protocols and platforms for organoid culture, troubleshoot technical problems, and ensure robust data analysis and interpretation. Stay at the forefront of organoid research by evaluating emerging technologies and methods, presenting at conferences, and publishing in high-impact journals.Ensure robust data analysis and interpretation, leveraging advanced techniques for organoid phenotyping, multi-omics, and spatial biology.

Qualifications

 

  • PhD in Scientific Discipline or Engineering Equivalent and 8 or more years' experience, including 0-2 years' supervisory experience or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience with cancer organoid culture systems, with a proven track record in generating organoid models from various tissues is required.
  • Deep understanding of disease biology and experience applying organoid models in therapeutic or translational research is required.
  • Background in Oncology preferred.
  • Familiarity with advanced molecular biology techniques like CRISPR, transcriptomics, and drug screening preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microphysiological System (MPS) or Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technologies preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience mentoring and managing scientific teams.
  • Exquisite attention to detail and the ability to develop, write, and publish laboratory methods and protocols.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently in a highly interactive, interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong work ethic and a high sense of responsibility, accountability, and professional integrity.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $145,000 - $155,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
