Principal - Business Development

Company Overview

Blue Energy’s mission is to unlock energy abundance, energy affordability, energy security, and turn-key decarbonization by developing the fastest path to deploying new nuclear MWs at scale. We are utilizing shipyard manufacturing supply chains and techniques from offshore oil and wind to reduce the cost of nuclear plants by over 60% and the manufacturing timeline to 24 months. Blue Energy is a platform technology that makes use of the latest NRC-approved reactors and is in negotiations with existing nuclear and industrial sites, enabling a much faster regulatory pathway to deploy our first unit. With our innovative centralized shipyard manufacturing approach, we can put nuclear power on a cost-reduction learning curve akin to wind, solar, and lithium-ion batteries.

Join one of the energy sectors’s most ambitious startups as the right hand to our Chief Commercial Officer (former GC at Exelon) and SVP of Business Development (30 years of global power generation development at Wood Group), helping deploy the next wave of nuclear power at unprecedented scale.

About Us: Blue Energy is revolutionizing how nuclear power is deployed through manufacturing innovation - think wind turbine installation, not traditional nuclear projects. Backed by an initial  $51M in VC funding, our team brings serious credentials from Exelon, NET Power, the U.S. Navy, and the NRC. We’re on track to build the first centrally-manufactured modular nuclear plants, transforming how clean energy is delivered to the world’s largest companies.

The Role

As a Business Development Associate, you will:

  • Collaborate directly with the CCO and the SVP of Business Development to develop and execute commercial strategies and project development contracts.

  • Build and maintain financial/commercial models, applying data-driven insights to drive decision-making.

  • Conduct market and competitive analysis, identifying key opportunities and trends.

  • Support business development bids and processes, including site-specific analyses and deal models.

  • Actively participate in marketing, outreach, and pipeline development efforts.

  • Interface with cross-functional teams, including Licensing and Engineering, to align business objectives.

  • Track and report on key performance indicators to measure the success of commercial efforts.

  • Learn and engage deeply with our business model, positioning yourself as a future leader in the company.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2-5 years of experience in business development, consulting, investment banking, or a related analytical role.

  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools, financial modeling, and CRM systems.

  • A natural relationship builder with excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence.

  • A self-starter who’s curious, detail-oriented, and eager to engage across teams and processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to present complex data in an impactful and understandable manner.

  • Passion for clean energy, nuclear power, and building something transformative.

  • Growth-oriented with a long-term view, seeking to develop into a commercial leader.

Why This Role Is Different:

  • An accelerated path for developing career experience in generation development

  • Real responsibility from day one

  • Direct mentorship from industry veterans

  • Clear path to leading major energy deals

  • Opportunity to help deploy nuclear at scale

  • Competitive compensation including equity

We’re looking for an ambitious professional ready to dive deep into commercial development and grow into a future leader in clean energy. If you want an accelerated path to developing hands-on project development in the power sector and to help transform how nuclear power is deployed, we want to hear from you.

Location: DC

Travel: up to ~50% expected to Chicago, Edinburgh, and project sites

We look forward to your application and helping foster an era of safe, clean, affordable, and abundant energy.
