The Advancement Associate reports to the Senior Director of Public Partnerships and provides fundraising and administrative support related to partner research, proposal and budget development, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and CDC Foundation approvals, donor agreement execution, CRM data entry, and donor stewardship. This position may manage a portfolio of his/her own projects funded by government donors.
The Advancement Associate works as a partner with fellow Advancement Officers and functions synergistically with members of the Advancement staff in support of the mission of the CDC Foundation. He/she must work seamlessly with CDC Foundation staff, and external partners. This is a two-year contract position ending on June 30, 2026 and can be fully remote or hybrid in Atlanta and report to our headquarter office.
Qualifications and Skills- Bachelor’s degree
- One (1) - three (3) years of direct fundraising or equivalent business development experience.
- Experience in public health/health care environment or funding for scientific research preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, providing support to senior staff as well as managing a portfolio of his/her own projects.
- Professional presence with the ability to establish confidence and trust among CDC colleagues and private sector partners.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities simultaneously and effectively.
- A demonstrated ability to complete assignments in a timely and effective manner and deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Excellent computer and data management skills/proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Excel required; Salesforce experience highly preferred.
- Adherence to the Code of Ethical Principles of the National Society of Fundraising Executives (NSFRE) and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
Duties and Responsibilities- Create, edit, finalize and send fundraising correspondence, proposals, and stewardship materials for partners and prospects.
- Lead the process for identifying, researching and analyzing state, territorial and tribal (STLT) health department prospects for cultivation and solicitation.
- Develops, updates and maintains jurisdictional prospect research information in the Salesforce CRM to monitor and report on prospects. Works with Advancement and Internal Operations teams to identify top priority partners based on research and available funding.
- Develops, updates and maintains RFP tracking mechanism with applicable forecasted, active and closed RFPs by jurisdiction.
- 5. Assists the data team with data quality and capture improvements and automations within our Salesforce CRM, especially for key prospect research data.
- Provide fundraising and administrative support to senior Advancement staff.
- Tracks and submits all partner reviews to the Advancement Operations team in our Salesforce CRM for tracking purposes.
- Participate in a variety of staff activities, projects, and assignments.
- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned
