POSITION TITLE: Nutritionist/Health Educator
LOCATION: Local off-site – primarily remote, but occasional travel in Massachusetts required

SALARY: $ 46,800 (.6 FTE) (plus benefits)
OVERVIEW
The CDC Foundation is seeking a part-time (.6 FTE) Nutritionist/Health Educator to provide support to a state, Tribal, or local health department as they seek to bolster their public health operations in the ongoing fight against COVID-19 and to address ongoing and related public health priorities. The Nutritionist/Health Educator will work alongside the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Nutrition Division team on education and messaging.
QUALIFICATIONS
•A bachelor’s degree in nutrition science, public health nutrition, or similar degree
•Foundational knowledge of health equity, cultural competence, and diversity as it applies to individuals and populations (e.g., language, culture, values, socioeconomic status, geography, education, race, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, profession, religious affiliation, mental and physical abilities, and historical experiences)
•Ability to provide counseling and education services onsite at WIC clinics 1-2 days per week in the greater Boston area is required; access to reliable transportation is needed.
•Previous WIC experience is required.
•Proficiency in a second language is an asset; most needed is Spanish, Portuguese and Haitian Creole.
•A motor vehicle records check, provided by the CDC Foundation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Supports WIC nutrition programming across the WIC local agency system through remote and in-person delivery of nutrition assessment, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and community referral services.
•Coordinates with DPH staff and local WIC agency management teams to maximize resources and support staff and families.
•Ensures that the diversity of individuals and populations is addressed in educational and communication services that affect the health of a community.
•Engages with WIC state agency management and local WIC agency staff to observe best practices, identify operational challenges, and suggest improvements for WIC nutrition service delivery.
•Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with partners, contractors, and stakeholders.
