PeopleCert is looking for an experienced and visionary Head of Exam Security to design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive security strategy for our exam delivery processes. This pivotal role demands strategic foresight, operational expertise, and a proactive approach to risk management to uphold the integrity and trustworthiness of our examination framework. The ideal candidate will excel in security operations, collaborate effectively across teams, and leverage data-driven insights to enhance our security posture.

As an Head of Exam Security, your tasks will include the following:

1. Strategic Oversight and Accountability

  • Serve as the primary authority for all exam security initiatives, holding exclusive responsibility for compliance, risk mitigation, and addressing security breaches.
  • Act as the single point of accountability for exam security operations and liaise with stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

2. Data-Driven Security Enhancements

  • Gain a deep understanding of exam delivery workflows, requirements, and challenges.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and vulnerabilities, using insights to propose and implement improvements that strengthen security protocols.

3. Incident Management and Prevention

  • Investigate potential security breaches thoroughly and develop preventive measures to minimize risks.
  • Provide detailed, actionable reports on incidents to stakeholders, including lessons learned and future safeguards.

4. Collaboration and Industry Engagement

  • Partner with third-party providers to ensure seamless integration of advanced security measures.
  • Monitor industry advancements in security technologies, practices, and emerging threats to maintain a competitive edge.

5. Security Enhancement Roadmap

  • Develop and maintain a clear roadmap for planned security improvements aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation of security enhancements and provide regular progress updates to stakeholders, identifying and addressing potential risks or challenges.

6. Operational Recommendations

  • Deliver actionable, tailored recommendations to internal departments to optimize security processes and procedures.
  • Champion a culture of security awareness and best practices across teams.

 What we look for:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM). A postgraduate degree will be considered as an extra asset.
  • 2 years of previous working experience in security operations, particularly in exam delivery or a related field.
  • Excellent command of the English language (native-like or C2 level certification desired, LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL certificate would be a plus).
  • Advanced computer literacy is required. ECDL Advanced level certification is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize data into actionable strategies.
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively liaise with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of security technologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  •  Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution and operational excellence.

Working on Home Office (HO) Secure English Language Tests (SELTs)

Any person who is engaged by PeopleCert to work on the SELT service must undergo a Background Check (the results of which must be acceptable to PeopleCert and the HO) prior to commencing their SELT duties. All SELT personnel will be required to complete a declaration (provided by PeopleCert) where the existence of any criminal record and/or bankruptcy must be declared.

If working on the SELT service in the UK, background checks will include:

  • A basic or enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Right to Work in the UK check (including nationality, identity and place of residence)
  • HO security check (Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorist Check (CTC)
  • Financial background check
  • Employment reference check
  • If working on the SELT service anywhere in the world (outside of the UK) personnel will undergo background checks that are equivalent to those stated for the UK

In addition, if personnel are required to speak to SELT candidates they must be appropriately skilled in English language and, where SELT services are provided anywhere in the world (outside of the UK), the official language of the relevant country.
