Director, HR Operations

We are seeking a Director, HR Operations to lead a team responsible for driving efficiency, compliance, and strategic alignment across key HR functions. This role oversees HR Compliance, HR Information Systems (HRIS), Onboarding & Offboarding, Employee Relations, and HR Business Partners (HRBPs) while managing a team to support these functions.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a passion for process improvement, technology-driven HR solutions, and fostering an engaged workforce.


Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Strategic Oversight

  • Lead and develop a team that includes:

    • Onboarding Specialist – Ensures a seamless new hire experience.

    • HR Admin – Supports HR operations and documentation.

    • HR Compliance Manager – Maintains legal and policy compliance.

    • HRIS Analyst – Manages HR technology and data accuracy.

    • HR Business Partners (HRBPs) – Align HR strategy with business objectives.

  • Provide coaching, development, and performance oversight to team members.

  • Ensure HR operational excellence by streamlining workflows, optimizing systems, and implementing best practices.


HR Compliance & Policy Governance

  • Oversee the HR Compliance Manager to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA).

  • Guide the creation, maintenance, and communication of HR policies, handbooks, and compliance training.

  • Partner with Legal and Risk Management to manage audits, workplace investigations, and regulatory reporting.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to HRBPs and business leaders on compliance-related matters.


HR Information Systems (HRIS) & Data Analytics

  • Oversee the HRIS Analyst in managing system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.

  • Drive data integrity, security, and compliance in HR technology platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP, UKG).

  • Leverage HR analytics to provide workforce insights on trends, turnover, and engagement.

  • Work with IT and vendors to optimize HR system functionality and automation.


Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Supervise the Onboarding Specialist in managing a seamless, high-impact onboarding experience.

  • Ensure consistency and compliance in offboarding processes, including exit interviews and knowledge transfer.

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and L&D to enhance pre-hire to post-hire engagement.


Employee Relations & HR Business Partners (HRBPs)

  • Lead and support Regional HRBPs in fostering strong business partnerships and HR strategy alignment.

  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, and escalations.

  • Drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture.

  • Oversee succession planning, career development, and workforce planning efforts.


Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with 5+ years in HR Operations leadership roles.

  • Experience leading multi-functional HR teams and managing HR operations.

  • Expertise in HR compliance, HR technology, employee relations, and business partnership.

  • Experience managing HRIS platforms (e.g., UKG, PerformYard, Ashby, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, ADP, UKG).

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage HR data for strategic decision-making.

  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

  • HR certifications preferred (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).


Working Conditions:

  • Full-time, hybrid

  • Occasional travel (5%) may be required for training or project meetings.


This position operates as part of a US East Coast-based team, with typical working hours aligning with EST to facilitate effective collaboration. We offer flexibility in managing your schedule to maintain a healthy work-life balance while meeting business needs.
