Strategic Ops Manager

About David Energy

David Energy is creating a new kind of power company. Traditional Retail Electricity Providers (REPs) are outdated, opaque, and painful for customers to engage with. We use software to monitor our customers' real-time energy usage, and we aggregate and analyze that data to maximize the value they get from their energy assets – batteries, EVs, HVAC systems and other distributed energy resources (DERs) via participation in energy markets. Our mission is to run the grid on clean energy 24/7.

Reporting to our Head of Strategic Operations, the Strategic Ops Lead will help connect the strategic “What” we want to do with the technical and operational “How” we operationalize across our entire complex ecosystem. We are enrolling customers at a faster rate than ever and we need to ensure that our processes, systems and tools are designed and optimized to best support our internal teams and our desired customer experience.  This role requires strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, as well as a good grasp of operations management principles. This is an exciting opportunity to help build the foundation of our newly formed strategic operations org.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting a wide range of efforts driving core business KPIs, including transformation work, integration work and special projects

  • Introducing clarity and structure to ambiguous problems, building and implementing solutions to drive operational efficiency

  • Establishing workflows and processes to produce consistent and measurable outcomes

  • Collaborating deeply with the Customer Success and Engineering teams to drive an effective operating rhythm to serve and support our customers

  • Analyzing data and building systems to enable data-driven decisions and value delivery

Required qualifications

  • 3+ years of demonstrated success scaling high-quality operations in a challenging environment

  • Advanced data analysis in SQL

  • Experience collaborating and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Bonus but not required experience:

  • Customer success

  • Energy trading, grid operations or deregulated energy markets

  • Device control, automation engineering or IoT

  • Common startup technology stacks

About you

  • You welcome the challenge of early-stage work and thrive with a lot of whitespace and uncertainty

  • You identify opportunities proactively without waiting for them to be shown

  • You are motivated by the business context – not just the technical context

  • You are fluent in data and can communicate clearly with people at all levels of technical skills

Benefits

  • Base salary of $150,000 – $175,000 plus equity, depending on experience

  • Group medical and dental insurance

  • Flexible vacation / PTO policy

  • 401(k) plan

  • Hybrid office culture, with team members working remotely and from our office in NYC
