About the Role 

As an Area HR Manager, you will lead as a Strategic Business Partner to ensure the best colleague experience through implementing the H&M people strategy.  You will strive to foster and promote a high-performing, growth-oriented organizational culture with strong values that aligns with business goals and achieves our financial targets.  

This field-based role reports into the Area Manager and is based out of Richmond, VA.

A Day in the Life 

Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the following responsibilities* 

  • Utilize your HR Business Partner mindset by strategically partnering with business leaders to effectively implement the H&M people plan 

  • Champion our values-driven culture to provide the best colleague and customer experience; recognize customer service behaviors and drive performance to ensure business success 

  • Together with the Area team and Sales Market HR, you follow up & evaluate HR KPI’s & initiate clear action plans 

  • Develop a sustainable talent acquisition and hiring plan and strategy for Area, while building and overseeing the internal talent pipeline with follow up on talent development 

  • You will provide HR subject matter expertise, competency coaching and business partner advice to your indirect team of Store managers 

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of colleagues, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance and fair working environment 

  • Maintain an overview of the specific colleague related challenges in your Area, including political, environmental, and competitor-related complexities and develop strategies to navigate these challenges 

  • You play a key role in leading change initiatives, supporting colleagues to adapt to changes through effective communication and support 

  • You support the Area team and Store managers in developing, identifying and coaching talents & foster cross-function talent initiatives 

  • Required domestic and international travel up to 60% of the time  

Qualifications

Who You Are:  

  • 2-4 years of HR, retail leadership or people management, preferably in retail management 

  • Inclusive, positive, open to feedback, willing to multitask and learn on the job 

  • Strong commitment and experience with providing a high level of customer service 

  • Skilled at solving conflicts in a direct but positive way 

  • Strong professional maturity and the ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information 

  • Knowledge of federal and state/municipal legal requirements including Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, FCRA, etc. specifically relating to the areas of recruitment and training 

  • Proficient at Microsoft Office  

  • Store orientation and commitment to store management development

Additional Information

Compensation: salary range is $75,300 - $84,000 annually**
