Head of Machine Learning - Remote

Why it matters: Our Head of Machine Learning will play an integral role in driving the vision for Axios HQ as an AI-powered essential communications tool.

Go deeper: In this role, you will make an impact to Axios HQ through the following responsibilities:

Lead and develop the ML and Data science team while influencing the product roadmap and related ML tech roadmap
Drive value in the product development process by bringing ML and AI sensibilities to all aspects of HQ's product.
Move the ML team to a cohesive unit serving our growing squads, while also identifying space to perform forward looking experimentation around new ideas in ML/AI

The details: Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit and passion for Axios HQ’s mission and values - raise the bar, stay curious, be inclusive, always, and champion each other - and have the following skills/experience:

10+ years of professional experience
Deep knowledge of ML and AI, particularly in business applications of modern approaches
Experience leading a team in a player/coach capacity
Experience collaborating with an Executive team by supporting strategic efforts, including presenting to the board of directors, major clients, and key prospective clients.
Nice to have: Understanding and experience in the full ML production pipeline, from training to deployment to optimization.
Background in NLP based AI applications preferred
Experience building scaled ML systems in a cloud / SaaS product preferred
Industry credentials / credibility in the ML community preferred
