Langford & Low Construction is seeking a Controller to be based in their Portland, ME office. The Controller will be an integral part of the senior management team and needs to be a motivated self-starter, with good communication skills and a professional attitude.


Requirements of the Controller:
  • 5 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is desired but not required.
  • CPA desired but not required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and risk management practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Highly organized with exceptional follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience working with Sage 100. Sage 300 CRE (Timberline) or Sage 300 also considered.
  • Ability to commute to the office in Portland, ME Monday through Friday. 


Benefits of the Job:
  • Annual pay in the range of: $90,000-$110,000
  • PTO and 6 paid holidays
  • 401K (Safe Harbor plan with match)
  • Medical, Vision & Dental insurance. Medical plans are a shared cost split roughly 70%/30% with L&L paying 70%.
  • Biannual bonuses based on company performance.

Responsibilities of the Controller:
  • Oversee the in-house accounting function including accounts payable and accounts receivable, check runs and payroll.
  • Prepare year-end reports for outside audit.
  • Offer insights and strategies to mitigate financial risks and enhance accounting practices.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline accounting operations and improve overall efficiency.
  • Take on other tasks as assigned to support company goals.
