Company Description

The Charleston LGC Group site manufactures Reference Materials (RM’s) and Certified Reference Materials (CRM’s) to support the environmental, food safety, forensic, public health, petrochemical and industrial hygiene industries. The site also manufactures environmental sampling products.

Job Description

The Logistics & Waste Technician performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with the pick, check, and ship system (PCS) and waste management. Package and ship products, samples, and other miscellaneous items in accordance with DOT/IATA regulations and receive and distribute all incoming goods. In performing day-to-day, routine tasks, this worker follows established guidelines.  In handling unusual non-routine problems, this worker receives specific guidance from the Logistics Manager.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily.

  • Direct the Logistics department in the absence of the Logistics Manager  
  • Coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in the PCS system.
  • Maintain organized hazardous waste documents as required by law
  • Ability to coordinate and execute a waste pick up
  • Assist in training of other technicians

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • DOT Hazardous Materials and IATA Shipper certifications are preferred
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • 4 Years’ minimum experience working in a logistics setting is preferred
  • 4 Years’ experience working in a laboratory setting is not required but is a plus
  • Ability to ensure organization and prioritization to meet Shipping goals and deadlines
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Safety training preferred
  • Hazwoper 24-hour training preferred
  • Respirator use required
