Job Description

The NBCU Local Technology & Operations organization provides the Technology & Workflow Solutions, Support, Media Operations, Production, Studio and Facilities services that power NBCU Local content creation and distribution.

We are looking for a Manager, Field Operations to join the Operations team in New York / New Jersey supporting WNBC (NBC 4) / WNJU (Telemundo 47).  As the Manager, Field Operations you will be primarily responsible for day-to-day logistics as well as newsgathering and remote production planning within our Field Operations Department. Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide processes, resourcing, and guidance to ensure team objectives & SLAs are met.
  • Develop & maintain strong stakeholder relationships, ensuring effective communication.
  • Coach and develop team members throughout their career journey
  • Assist with logistical and technical planning of all remote productions including site surveys.
  • Ability to assist photojournalists in basic troubleshooting of cameras, editing and live shots.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and track repair of gear and News fleet as needed.
  • Research, recommend and budget new technologies related to newsgathering.
  • Oversee a team of Duopoly Photojournalists.
  • Participate in daily editorial meetings and division monthly newsgathering call
  • All other Duties as assigned
  • Required onsite. This position is required to be performed full time onsite from an NBCUniversal designated work site and be On-Call 24/7/365.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ Years working in news operations or as a photojournalist or Chief Photojournalist
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds of gear.

Skills & Experience we are looking for:

  • In-depth understanding of newsgathering transmission technologies (CBNG / IPNG / KU-IP / MW)
  • In-depth knowledge of Adobe Premiere
  • In-depth knowledge of newsgathering workflows.
  • In-depth operational knowledge of cameras including full size ENG and mirrorless.
  • Basic understanding of digital video codecs.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced news environment.
  • Strong Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills.
  • Great leadership, coaching, and communication skills.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Salary Range: $125k-175k/annually

  • Must be willing to work in New York / New Jersey
  • Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours, and on weekends with short notice
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years or older
