The People & Places Team

Okta’s People & Places Organization is a collaborative team dedicated to enhancing the employee experience and driving innovative, data-driven HR strategies. This organization is focused on delivering exceptional HR experiences across the entire employee experience. This role reports directly to the VP of Global People Operations and Service Delivery and will play a critical part in advancing HR analytics initiatives in support of these objectives.

The Director of People Analytics Opportunity

As the Director of People Analytics, you will lead a team of analytics professionals dedicated to transforming data into actionable insights. Working closely with leaders across Okta, you will drive innovation, enable data-informed decisions, and establish a high-impact analytics function. This strategic role oversees the design, implementation, and management of HR analytics while acting as a thought partner to the People & Places organization.

This is an opportunity for you to combine technical expertise and HR business acumen. We are searching for a Director to lead, develop, and scale the People Analytics function - delivering predictive insights that enhance the employee experience and help drive Okta’s continued growth. 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing Analytics Expertise: Deliver actionable insights and recommendations to inform critical HR decisions, supporting Okta’s leaders and People & Places teams.
  • Leading and Developing the Team: Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of analytics professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Technical Leadership and Engagement: Act as a hands-on leader by guiding the team on technical challenges, including creating dashboards in Tableau, optimizing data in SQL, and utilizing data science friendly languages such as Python or R. Increase automation, streamline existing workflows, and tackle technical debt to enhance the scalability and efficiency.
  • Optimizing Data Practices: Advance data management, engineering, and quality practices to establish a solid analytics foundation for Okta. 
  • Delivering High-Impact Insights & Strategic Initiatives: Accelerate the transition from transactional reporting to predictive analytics and provide forward-looking insights on key people-related initiatives. Communicate findings through compelling narratives and visualizations.
  • Building Strong Partnerships: Collaborate with stakeholders across Okta to ensure alignment on analytics priorities and effectively present insights to C-suite executives. Align the team’s deliverables with organizational objectives and reset stakeholder expectations.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • 12+ years of combined experience in People Analytics, Workforce Planning, HR Management Consulting, or related fields.
  • 5+ years managing People Analytics teams, with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing functions.
  • Expertise in Tableau and SQL, with fluency in a data science language such as Python, R, or VBA.
  • Strong data storytelling skills, translating complex datasets into actionable insights and engaging narratives.
  • Experience presenting to the C-suite and preparing board-level materials.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to identify opportunities, establish plans, and drive measurable outcomes.
  • Experience enabling stakeholders to adopt data and insights through training and enablement programs.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:
$166,000$276,000 USD
The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between:
$206,000$310,000 USD
