Location: Gouverneur Hospital
Hours Per Week: As needed (Per Diem)
Schedule: Variable; Could be: Day, Evening, Night (Training is full time hours, variable shift. Then moves to as needed.)
SUMMARY:
Patient Registration ensures a compassionate first impression, collecting health information, verifying insurance, processing co-payments, and scheduling appointments. They will also manage pre-access procedures across the hospital. Additionally, the role includes shared responsibilities for the hospital’s telephone switchboard and life support alarm coverage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collect and verify patient demographic, financial, and medical information, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Verify insurance eligibility, process co-payments, and ensure compliance with third-party payer requirements.
Answer calls professionally, assist with inquiries, and manage hospital paging, call schedules, and lockdown procedures.
Provide a welcoming and empathetic experience, address patient concerns, and maintain confidentiality.
Assist patients with financial options and refer to advocacy programs as needed.
Obtain necessary signatures, complete required Medicare forms, and maintain accurate records.
Support new staff orientation, attend training sessions, and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma (Or equivalent)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of medical terminology, EHR systems, coding, billing, and HIPAA.
Strong customer service, communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
Associate’s degree preferred; 1-3 years of experience in healthcare or administration.

PAY RANGE:
$18.70 - $27.44The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
